My grandfather gave me this revolver. The grips are broke I can't find them anywhere. Could someone please help. Gun really means a lot to me. Thanks for any help.

You can scour GunBroker.com for some grips for it, or maybe Brownells. Or, you can call somebody like Herretts and ask them if they can make some grips for it.

Good luck!

I think I have a couple sets that might fit.
Yours were probably originally black grips correct?
I don't think I have any black sets, but I believe I have a set of white, and a set of brown grips that will fit your 666.
I will try and dig them out tomorrow, and check.

Tom is right,
It is always worth a call to Numrich, they do sometimes have parts in stock that are not listed online!

I will get my box of spare grips out today and check to see if I have any.

What kind of "break" is it? If it is of common form (no missing pieces) I'd be tempted to repair it. It'd be fixed yet still wear its war wound (story) proudly.

tp8686,
I found 4 different sets of grips that will fit your model 666.
1 set of factory style plastic grips that are brown.
1 set of factory style that are white.
1 set of aftermarket grips made of rosewood.
And 1 set of factory H&R grips that are walnut, these are a factory target grip with thumbrest.
I put the left side grip from each style on my model 666 and took a couple pics so you could see what they would look like on your revolver.

Original style plastic,

After market rosewood

Original H&R target grips with thumb rest.

Let me know if you are interested in any of these.

Remllez,
Hey, it's not like I am going to GIVE them away! LOL
Seriously though, if I have the parts, it's nice to see someone get their old H&R up and running again.

Ok I give up, someone tell me the difference between the model 666 & my 922 is..............they look the same.

303tom,
As you know, the 922 is a 9 shot, 22 lr only revolver, while the 666 is a 6 shot 22 lr / 22 mag convertible.
They do look a lot alike, and function alike also. both being pull pin to remove cylinder.
Basically the same gun, except the 666 has the 22 magnum cylinder.
Also the 666 cylinders are unfluted, while the 922 has a fluted cylinder.

NOT ! The two pictures I posted are of my two 922`s, the one on the left has a .22 magnum cylinder with it............The mag. cylinder is not fluted.

i would like to know the letter prefix of the serial # on the 922 with the mag cylinder you have pictured.
To determine date of manufacture.
it appears to be a model in the early to mid 50's.
I have a 1950 model that looks exactly like yours.
The magnum cylinder shown with the 922 is NOT an original cylinder to the revolver.
The 22 magnum round was introduced in 1959, and I think your 922 was made before then.
The 922 came as long rifle only with a fluted cylinder, a mag cylinder was not offered.
The unfluted cylinder is probably from another convertible model, it is a 6 shot cylinder, while the 922 is a 9 shot revolver.
I do not even believe it will work in your 922.
Have you ever installed the mag cylinder, and fired it in your 922?
I am not a gun smith, but putting a 6 shot cylinder in a 9 shot revolver and having both cylinders rotate and time correctly seems impossible to me.

I just pulled out my model 922, which is close to the year of the piece you have pictured.
I also got out one of my non fluted mag cylinders.
It would not even fit inside the frame of the 922, because it is longer than the factory 22 lr cylinder.

J prefix on your revolver = 1949 manufacture.
10 years before the 22 WMRF cartridge was introduced.
The cylinder for sure did not come with the revolver originally.
I really have no explanation for the model 922 only being a 6 shooter.
I can tell you with confidence that the 922 was a 9 shooter from the factory.

Thunder,
I don't know if you will get a reply from 32 magnum or not.
He is presently experiencing some health issues, and said he will be out of the loop for awhile, possibly an extended period of time.
I did hear from him early this week about an early H&R shotgun I am looking at, but have gotten no emails or seen any posts on any of the forums since then.
I usually am in contact with Jim , almost daily, so I would say he is unavailable
for comment at this time.
hopefully he will stop by, and give his thoughts on this subject.
He is for sure MR. H&R!!
got me started in my collecting, and has been a guide and voice of reason in my purchases ever since!!
