H&R has a pretty cheap pump shotgun and I was thinking bout getting one in 20 ga. Anyone have thoughts or experience bout this gun?

good stuff for the money. do a quick forum search and youll find all the info you could want.

It's a Chinese import, if that matters to you- pretty much an 870 clone. There weren't a lot of extra barrels available for them last time I checked, so if accessory barrels for different roles are high on your list of priorities you might want to do some checking. Remington 870 barrels won't fit them, not directly anyway.

I have a couple of Pardner Pumps in 12 ga. and have been happy with them. I doubt you'll be disappointed in your purchase, if you decide to get one.

H&R Pardner pump

No frills, ok finish, & dependable. The only thing I don't like about the 20 ga is that you can't get a 18.5" barrel for it without having to jerry-rig 870 barrel with an adapter for the mag tube cap. Oh, did I say nice & heavy? There will be zero recoil from a 20 ga.

The last time I had my Pardner pump 12 gauge out, I loaded the mag tube up with five rounds of target loads, and dropped it straight on the ground and totally buried it in the dirt. I pulled it out of the dirt, shook it off a bit, and proceeded to fire all five rounds.

The action was gritty, but I shucked all five rounds in and out and they all fired perfectly, then I loaded and fired off five more with no problems. This gun is a tank.

Its an 870, but tougher, and for less money. If you don't mind the country of origin, I see no reason not to get one.

I think they are very well built for the money. I am happy with my nef\hr 12ga, and appreciate the hefty steel build; the kind of thing I would only buy at the cheapest sale price of the year but then I'd do that for any make. Mine has a poly stock, but it doesn't have a cheap feel. If I saw a used one for a bargain price I'd grab it and find a use later :)

I bought a "youth model" 20 gauge I leave at the ranch house for varmints and the like; paid around $140 new out the door at the gun show. The action was rough at first, but after a couple of boxes of dove loads it smoothed up quite a bit. I have several 870 youth models in 20 gauge I keep around for relatives and I keep them in the safe, but I use the H&R without worrying about banging it around in the ranch pickup.

I've been wondering about these ever since I saw them on the rack where I work. I'm glad to see some reviews here; I will now be able to tell customers something about it.
