Any thoughts on where I might find a cleaning rod for the H&R Trapdoor rifle? Or maybe someone has the dimensions (diam & length) so I can make another?

Got a good opportunity to pick up a used H&R trapdoor, but the cleaning rod is missing.

Be aware that the H&R Springfield had some problems with the latch allowing the bolt to blow open.

People replace them with real original Springfield parts.
But pretty soon, you got more money in it then it is worth.

Do a Google and do some reading before you jump on it with both feet.

Heard also a little loctite on the allen screw (2 piece latch) goes a long way to stopping that. Figure it's worth a try. Especially since the seller has a 30 day return policy for defects. At worst, I'm out shipping.

Thanks, Onmilo

So far, all CRs I've seen available from places like Dixie, Trapdoorcollector, trapdoor, etc are all one-piece or sectional metal rods; not the wooden CR H&R provided on the Trapdoor (but very similar to the H&R Shakira rod?)

Uberti's Trapdoors have metal CRs. Pedersoli has a wooden CR on their Officer Trapdoor; the only wooden rod of the Pedersoli TD line. But I don't know how their dimensions compare to the H&R CR.

Just asking for someone that has an H&R TD to pass along the dimensions, and maybe a photo or two of the ends so I can approximate them out of blackpowder ramrod parts.

Just thoughjt I'd mention the H&R turns out to be a good shooter; with no apparent latch problem.
