H335 .222rem loads

anyone have some good loads made up using H335 and the .222? I get decent results using 23.5grs. (with a 50gr bullet) Though cases end up pretty "sooty" and I've noticed there is considerable less recoil than a factory Rem 50gr SP. Hornady and Lyman both list 25grs of powder as the max for H335. I'm looking for a suggested load between 23.5 and 25grs without wasting a bunch of components experimenting.

My only problem with H335 is the temperature sensitivity. You might want to consider H4895 or IMR4895. Sorry, no direct experience with H335.

lopezni, my first question is what primer are you using? If you're getting a lot of soot down past the shoulder, you are not getting a good burn with that ball powder and the pressures are not high enough to seal the case to the chamber. You should try a magnum primer if you're using a standard sr primer or a faster powder such as H322.
You've already noticed that your reloads do not exhibit the recoil of the factory loads, which should tell you that you're probably not getting the velocity that you want with your reloads. I bet that the factory loads do not soot the cases like your reloads.
I'm guessing that you do not have access to a chronograph.

Yeah I just got some CCI 450 primers (magnum small rifle). I don't really plan on switching powder because I am really happy with the accuracy I have been getting, I've tried BLC(2), the best I could get with that was 1moa, going to use the new primers with that as well. I have access to a chronograph, however not at the moment. By the way, does Remington have a primer that is the equivalent to the CCI magnum small rifle?

Not the powder your using but I have a old rem 600 222 and use reloader 10x and 45gr sierras with great results. Drop the mag primers and use some cci 400 primers. Great combo you should givew it a try
