Due to the current lack of powder availability, it has come down to use what ya got.

None of my manuals list H335 as a tested powder in 308 Win with a 155 or 168 HPBT.

IMR 4964, 4895, Varget or R 15 seem to be the favorites.

But, Hodgdon does list a load using H335 but it is on the bottom of the "list"

So is this because it is a faster powder? I gather the slower powders are better?

I load handguns and not a lot of rifle other than 223 Rem. So I have a little IMR 4064 but more H335 and H332.

So what can I expect from H335 (I am no match shooter) so will it even matter to a mere mortal?;)

Will it matter?

No probably not.

It will work fine for the bullet weights you mentioned.
It just won't give the top velocity's you might get with some other powders.

So is the "lack" of velocity due to the faster powder? Like slower powders in a Magnum handgun kind of thing?

I'm not aware of any powder designated H-355. Are you sure you don't mean H-335?

Hodgdon doesn't list it on their website, and I've never heard of it.

Hope this helps.

Yes , H335 I am dyslexic and kant typ or spel so goodly ether . I typed it correctly 3 out 5 times though:scrutiny::uhoh:

I went back and fixed it. Thanks,:)

I knew what you meant. I was just being picky, but it's another good reason I don't publish reloading data in open forums. It's just too easy to transpose, mistype, etc.

I am glad you did. I agree and am usually more careful.

Myself?

I just averaged it out at had a 60% chance we were talking about H-335.

Hey!
That's better odds then winning the lottery or getting hit by lightening. :D

H335 is the slightly faster cousin to BL-C(2) and both can be used in both NATO cartridges. As you know H335 is better in the 223/5.56 and BL-C(2) is better in the 308/7.62. Just compare those 2 powders to the none canister variations, WC844 and WC846, both are use in both cartridges but like the commercial powders WC844 will perform better in the 223 and WC846 will perform better in the 308.

In these tough times H335 will work just fine in the 308 all be it at slightly reduced velocities but still acceptable performance and most probably accuracy too. In reality if you could get a hold of some BL-C(2) that would be a better 1 powder choice than H335 for both NATO cartridges, IMO.
