At first I figured it was gonna be your typical "Beef Jerky" day the the Gunshow. High prices & junk. It was one of those "Smaller" local shows so I wasn't expecting much.

The low $4 cover charge was the first "Ok, I'm already ahead" moment of joy, because the usual $10 cover around here is a real drag. So I figured, hey I get lunch free today!!

The second rush of excitement came when I scored a case of 5.56 for $120 & th"Older" gentleman threw in a couple mags for my AR for free! I kinda stood there in disbelielf.

Then what I feel the crown jewel of the day was I got a NIB S&W 22a-1 that came with a bull barrel, factory Match grips, two mags, spare recoil buffers & to top it off a NIB Halo sight. $250 OTD. I'm gonna take it out tomorrow & run some pills through it before the game. Maybe I'll post a report.

I'm usually the first to complain about that pricing & the junk at shows but I think there's something in the water around here because today was the first REALLY enjoyable Gunshow I've been to in a LONG time. I don't know if it was because it was a "Smaller" show or if it was because it was mostly just local guys selling & trading but I do know for sure, I'll be returning every year.

To all the people that made the Bonners Ferry Gun & Horn show possible, thank you for the enjoyible experience!!

What brand of ammo? Six years ago 1000 rounds of Wolf could be had for $90 at every show, so he could have had 33% return on his six year investment :). Still would be a great deal for you as its usually a bit over $200 now.

I know the happy feeling, as last month I scored a case of 1000 PMC 115gr FMJ 9mm for $110. Too bad he had only one :)

Very nice aquisition on the S&W Model 22. Sounds like you really made out on both of your deals. I know I've felt the same way after going to a couple of shows the last few months. Not that there weren't deals to be had, just that I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

Then last weekend I found it: a NIB S&W Model 638 with a 2.5" barrel. And at a great price that made it less than other comparable S&W and Taurus revolvers I was looking at (and none of which had the longer barrel that I really wanted).

So yes, I would have to agree that you can have a good day at the local gunshow.

DANG!.. That S&W 22 is BEAUTIFUL!

I went to the show yesterday and was looking for a .22 that tickled my fancy and nothing really grabbed me.

I would have jumped on that deal REAL fast.

With the ridiculous door charge that the show close to me charges, they'd have to give me a pistol for me to walk out with a 'deal'.

K-Rod, if you don't like those target grips on the 22a, I'll trade you a set of the rubber factory grips plus some cash. Otherwise, enjoy!

Wally,
It was in fact Wolf ammo. I hope he wasn't sitting on it that long!!

Highorder, your offer is a fair one but I REALLY like this grip! It fits my hand well & it's very comfortable. It is big but not too big. It is kind of a pain because you can't use the butt of your hand to load the mag. The mag butt plate is recessed into the grip about half an inch so I have to use my thumb to get that final "Click"

I really enjoyed how well it shoots. I have to admit I was very excited about how accruate it was & put a whole brick through it today!! The "Second Round" curse did annoy me at first. It happened every mag but at around 200rds it stopped. The Halo sight that came with it is pretty awesome as well! It's a Sight Mark. It has the four different sight patterns & 7 different bright settings. Even against the white snow on an over cast day, the 4 setting was plenty bright enough. Sighting it in was pretty easy as well. I mounted the sight to the rail on the barrel then removed the barrel. I held the barrel as if it was on the frame & while looking down the barrel at a target 25yrds away, I ajusted the sight. I was on paper the first shot but after fine tuning, I had a 2in group off hand & a 1.25in group resting the butt of the grip on the rail of the truck bed. I'm sure with a better rest set up, that group will tighten up considerably.

I'm really happy with this set up & can't wait to get out & practice more. The wife was even hitting clays out to 50yrds with it. She wants one as well but I told her she wasn't getting mine! I'll get some pictures of the targets posted :^)

Not an issue, I'm still shooting what I bought back then. I stocked up as deep as I had space for. The wife was starting to get antsy, "don't you have enough ammo already?" A few years later and she was "you should've bought more!' when she saw how much prices had jumped :(
