My wife and I met our daughter and son-in-law, their son and his wife and two kids, plus their daughter and her three kids. First off was the two oldest girls,13 and 10 years old, shooting their AR 22 type rifles. Then we moved on to the 13 year old shooting her 12 guage semi-auto shotgun she won in a raffle earlier this year. The gun is as long as she is tall but she did quite well. She shot a few low velocity rounds and ran out of that ammo. High velocity didn't make her flinch and she shot several more rounds. We moved on to a variety of handguns including 22 LR, 380, 9 mm, and 45 ACP. The 10 year old and the younger ones stuck with 22 but the older one shot them all except the 45. She has shot my 1911 before and declined today. The 2 year old got to stay in the suv and watch.

I shot pretty good today after loading up on my shaky pills and managed to hang with everyone else including the two oldest girls that are surprisingly good shots for their age.

After the range session we adjourned to our favorite Tex-Mex cafe and had an excellent dinner. It was a nice way to spend most of a Saturday.

Yep, it sure sounds like it was a "nice way to spend most of a Saturday."
My own wife still works part-time for our church. She sets her own hours, but she had to go in today in order to get things done that she didn't do yesterday because we were out deer hunting. Consequently, I've spend a lot of today (Saturday) on THR. Being on THR is a nice way to spend most of a Saturday too, but it wasn't as nice as yesterday (Friday) when we were up in the hills east of here looking for a deer - even though we didn't get one.
Oh, well. Maybe tomorrow or Monday.:)

I miss long range days with my buddy. Passed away to a brain tumor. He always had little "challenges" to do, for fun. After a good day, we'd drive down the road to Weinerschitzel and grab a bite or two, talking about what we had coming up. I don't think I'll ever be able to put our time together into words.

What an awesome way to spend time with your family while enjoying a fun activity like that!

I have spent quite a few Saturdays and Sundays on a friend's property out in the country. Had his house built there on about 10 acres, and had the good sense to get the contractor to bulldoze an area in the back to build up a sizeable berm to use as a shooting range. Took the kids and a couple of their friends, along with a ton of ammo, and spent the afternoon blazing away at water bottles, aluminum cans, bowling pins, and any overripe fruits and vegetables (pumpkins and watermelons being seasonal favorites), that we could find. Always a great time!

Excellent. It's always a good day to take a kid or a bunch of kids shooting, isn't that what we "really" stockpile ammo for anyway?

I brought a kid, about 9 years old, shooting a 10/22 with his old man a couple weeks ago. Now whenever I see the kid it's like "Mr. Dusty when are we gonna go shoot the .22 again!?"
