I sold my sp101 2 1/4" and was looking for a nice 6" gp100. Well i found one but cant find any info on it.

Its a 6" old style rubber/rosewood grip stainless with a half lug barrel. I can't find any info on a half lug barrel. Is this desirable? or custom? Its $399 and has one spot with a scratch in the stainless but look good otherwise. Good deal?

I am not sure about the half lug design. I have bought a brand new gp100 about 6 months ago, 6" stainless with the full rubber hogue grips for $500. For $100 extra, I would buy new, however I do like the look of the old wood/rubber grips better. Can you post a pic?

I have a 6",full-lug stainless GP100, and me and everyone that's fired it, really love it.. That being said, I think the 1/2 lug on a 6" just lightens up an already overly heavy pistol just a bit, and isn't a detractor,at all. If the pistol checks out mechanically, and you're in the market for a full-size .357, I think you'd about be an idiot not to jump on this at $399. :D

6 " half lug

I have the same Ruger, with the Half lug and a 6 inch barrel in stainless . Minds 12 years old,the half Lug balance better than a full Lug. Being its a older one, its BETTER made and there's not a lot of them around. I"m very happy with it, it be the last gun I sell . I paid $325.00 for it , no papers nor box,but it came with the rubber / Rosewood grips. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!

If you like it, grab it. They've been out of production for several years now, and are getting harder to find. I remember seeing a bunch of new ones on Davidson's site and in a couple of local stores in 2008/2009'ish, but supposedly those were older distributor stock, not actual new production (although they had the newer Hogue monogrips on them).

Half lugs are bringing premium prices these days $399 is a steal , but still check it out good !!!

A trip to New Hampshire could get expensive !! But the most people just change springs & call it good !

I like & shoot muzzle heavy a tad better than a balanced revolver.

There was one for sale here in Ohio for 500 bucks at a LGS. It was in the case for a whole 3 hours. Gone before I could even look at it. If it what you like and is in good condition what we think does not matter.

The half lug 6" GP's are great and they balance beautifully. Plus they have the classic good looks of a half lug barrel. The fixed sight 3.0" and 4.0" half lug GP's are nice too. I have two 6" half lug GP's-one NIB blue and one LNIB stainless!

The six-inch, half lugged barrel is indeed a factory option for that model. It would undoubtedly be less heavy - with all of the weight taken from the front end - than a full lug. If you like it, buy it.

I own a carpet/terrazzo/tile/hardwood floor/marble/furniture/etc. business and i had an older gentleman trade me a Ruger GP100 with a 6" barrel and two hundred cash to do his twenty foot sectional(dry cleaned it), six hundred square feet of carpet, and five hundred square feet of hardwood floor. We were both happy about the deal, me especially because I had already grossed 2k before that job and it was only thursday. Of course my colleaugues in the business say I got ripped off but the guy wouldn't have gone for paying the cash. Instead I got a firearm I had been wanting but couldn't justify buying, my gas and chemicals, got covered, and I had some spending money when it was all said and done. And yes I spent the money taking the gun to the range and running the gun hard, as hard as one can go with Blazzer Brass 158 Grain JHP .357 magnum(supposed to only get 1250fps from their test barrels). Put at least a 150 rounds through it in one go and it's been a champ since, of course I cleaned it first.

Can anyone tell me if this is a half-lug, the guy didn't know anything about the gun other than it belonged to a buddy of his that got into some money problems and never paid him back. It's pictured here next to a S&W Model 15 4" that I got a good deal on at a gun show $240 if I remember right.

I missed my opportunity to get one when they were still being made, but managed to find a pre-owned specimen in the Summer of 2007. I like it!
