I recently picked up one of those .22 conversions STI makes for 1911's, it is very accurate but always falls to half-cock. The trigger is set to 2 1/2lbs and works fine with the .45 slide, the .22 slide works only when I increase sear spring pressure to 5 lbs but that should not be needed.

I believe the .22 conversion has around a 10 pound recoil spring, while my .45 slide has a 16 pound recoil spring.

The sear is not being tripped from the force of the slide because A) there is not enough force. B) I have held the trigger in place when slamming home. C) I have held the trigger back against the frame when slamming home.

If I drop the slide from slide-lock, the hammer does not follow.
If I slam home it follows.
Keep in mind this is only happening with the .22 conversion.

Could it be that because the slide is so light and fast that the sear cannot engage the hammer hooks before the slide returns to battery?

Sounds like a disconnector issue to me.

Perhaps the cut in the conversion slide is not right, and the disconnector can't get out of the way?
