What's the hammer gap supposed to be?
I have an Uberti which seems to be set perfectly, there is no ring hammered on the hammer from hitting the nipples.
My Remingtons have a small ring on the hammer from hitting the nipples a little bit. I know that this distance is supposed to be open by some thousandths, Just enough to smash a cap.
I tried setting the hammer spring set screw on the Remington but all it caused was bounce back as the cap detonated.
What's the proper way to set this gap and for how much?
I tried filing my Piettia's hammer face just untill the "ring" dissapeared and problems with busted cap fragments have gone pretty much away as long as I use Remington Caps. DId I do that correctly?
