Has anybody on here been to a gunshow in Hampton? I notice that the folks putting it on are different than those who put on the ones I've been to in Richmond. Am I going to see anything different than what I see up here? Any reason I should definitely go or not go?
I'm thinking about running down there this weekend just to kill sometime, might go look around Bass Pro Shops too.

Thanks

It's fairly similar to the richmond show. There are a few differences, mostly local shops. T&T doesn't go there, which may not matter to you if you aren't a reloader. It can get crowded, but no more than the showplace. Bass Pro is close and worth a visit too.

Thanks Griz, I think I am going to go, nothing else to do on Saturday. I am mainly looking for a little ammo and some other little stuff. The gun account is running kinda low right now.

It will be in the convention center next to the Hampton Coliseum. It's a nice facility. I am heading over early Saturday to see if I can hunt up a nice .22 revolver. If you see a big man with a 'Molon Labe' cap say hello.

Georgia Arms has a good selection of ammo and they're always at the show. There are a couple of other ammo vendors that sell in bulk but I couldn't name them off the top of my head.

When you pull out of the parking lot turn left and go straight down that road - can't remember the bloody name - across the overpass and about half a mile down you'll see Bass Pro on your right.

Regards,
Apple

I thought the road that runs under/over 64 was Mercury blvd. and Bass Pro Shops was on Powerplant Rd. Anyway, I kinda know my way around enough to find what I am going for. If I stick to that I'll be ok.

This is my 3rd or 4th time going to the Hampton show and this was the worst one I've been to. There just wasn't a lot of firearms dealers.

Well, I usually deal with Trader Jerry, Dark Sun Surplus, or The Armory anyway, so I didn't miss the gun dealers that much. Ended up iwth a 9mm M&P from Jerry (no wisecracks about the S&W 10 please, I'll stipulate that they should have called it something else). It was ok, but the Showplace is always a better show. Lots of good things can be found if you really look at what the venders have. My father is always looking for Lugers. I thought there were only 2 or 3, but he found quite a few more by paying a bit more attention. We typically take about 2.5-3 hours to walk this particular show (minimum 4 hours at the Showplace). There were some other things I needed but couldn't find, but I always go to these things with a list.

It was worth the trip. Some stuff was the same as Richmond, some different. Didn't get what I was after but picked up some other stuff. Saw some guys looking at some used DAO S&W pistols. One guy says "I have seen a lot of these, but I just can't figure out where the safety is." I don't know if they ever figured it out or not. What's the deal with the guy with the $669 Glocks? They had night sights but that doesn't add $200 to the value, oh well. Thanks for your help folks.
