I've always considered mine perhaps slightly larger than average but proportional to my height at 6' 1". I usually wear a large but sometimes an extra large glove. There does seem to be something different about my thumbs, as I have no problem cocking a single action without shifting my grip or losing the sights.

* Trigger Finger Length = 4.25"
** Spread = 9.25"
*** Palm length = 4.75"
**** Palm width = 3.75"

I voted average/medium based on rubber glove siize. My measurements:

Trigger Finger: 4.125"
Spread: 8.75"
Palm Length: 4.375"
Palm Width: 3.5"

I voted small. I wear a medium glove because my hands are too fat to fit into most smalls. However, the fingers on most medium gloves have an abundance of extra material left at the fingertips.

Well, now that we have n=20 I figured I could start to generate some preliminary results. Still a pretty small sample size, we're but getting there. Of course the exact way people measure also could lead to some inconsistencies but since I'm not applying for a research grant here I think we'll just have to go with what we got.

Trigger Finger Length Avg = 4.31" St Dev = 0.28"

Spread Avg = 9.29" St Dev = 0.62"

Palm Length Avg = 4.49" St Dev = 0.23"

Palm Width Avg = 3.77" St Dev = 0.36"

These numbers, so far, indicate my preconceived notions of my hands were true. I thought I had small or average hands but relatively long fingers (4.4" trigger finger) and the numbers so far seem to indicate I was correct, although well within one standard deviation of the mean. My fingers are slightly longer than average, but not crazy long, and my overall hand size is actually slightly below average.

One person did mention that their middle finger and ring finger were significantly longer than their trigger finger, and I must say, I never noticed before, but mine are too (middle finger about 3/4" longer than trigger finger, and ring finger about 1/2" longer). Interesting.

From the poll results it is leading me to believe that there is a common perception that our hands are bigger than they are, but a lot of it seems to be due to the size of gloves we buy. And I will say I buy large or XL gloves myself. I wonder if there isn't some sort of "vanity-sizing" issue going on here or something, just like with women's dresses.

I voted large but I realize I have very thick hands and short fingers, I have a hard time finding gloves that fit without an extra 1/2" of finger.
Trigger Finger Length 4.125

Spread Avg = 9.0"

Palm Length 4.0"

Palm Width 3.9"

case in point I measured th thickness of my palm by my thumb it's 1.95"

I would guess that LG glove sizes are closer to the average than Med gloves.
I know I voted based on both perception and Glove sizing.

A interesting side note. A study has been done recently showing that the closer in length the ring finger is to the middle finger the higher the level of testosterone the person has. The hands show effects of early introduction of testosterone to the fetus and results in larger hands and finger length ratio of the middle to ring finger. They made other not so High Road conclusions as well.

I would propose that gun owners may tend to be higher testosterone infused men. Just my theory.

Keep in mind that industry standards for glove sizing may have been fixed LONG ago when the average-size man was both shorter and smaller. In 1915, the "average" man may have required Medium gloves.

I wear small or medium gloves, I can't remember which. I'll check when I get home which gloves I have. (I don't wear gloves very often). I've always felt I have small hands, but it looks like my palm is fairly normal size and my fingers are just short.
