Can anyone please tell me how to replace the hand spring on a Uberti 1858 revolver. Mine broke. I have already disasemble the revolver and have order
a new one. thanks
#1 - If you can drive the old hand spring out of the slot in the hand, you can then fabricate a new spring to match from, say, a bobby pin.
#2 - If you purchase a new hand and spring, you will have to carefully match the new hand to the length and shape of the original one.
When you stake the fabricated spring (bobby pins for me) in place I have found it helps to grind or file an indent or notch in the edges of the spring and then stake the spring at those points. Otherwise the spring wanders back & forth or out of the slot.
Thanks, it work like a charm it came right out. Now i'am thinking about the
Bobby pin maybe that would be better then the replacement spring.
the hand already has two notches from the original spring.I'am guessing they
can be hammer back in place anyway thanks again
