Handgun classics - gotta have

A man's gotta have at least one 1911. You also need a 29 and an L frame. Something in a single action rounds out the herd and for most, a .22 is mandatory.

Things like a K frame, a Python, are considered standard as well.

What's about a SIG P210?
Maybe not very well known in the US. But it's maybe the most accurate 9mm ever.

A 1911 with .45 caliber is a "must have" classic too.

Actually I own both:)

Colt...

I agree with the OP and many of the others, but the ultimate, Holy Grail of handguns for me is a 4" or 6" Colt Python in nickel. I've got some of the others like a Colt SAA and a few 1911s etcs, but that's the one I'd really like. As soon as I can stop spending my gun allowance before it reaches $1300, maybe I'll get one. :p

Classics I own.

RRA Basic Carry
1965 Colt Python (Blued)
Unfired Colt ACE
Unfired 1963 Colt DS
1966 S&W Model 49

Make mine the quintessential K-Frame, the S&W Model-15 Combat Masterpiece 4" and the S&W Model-52 .38 Special target pistol.

Classics, eh? Okay, here goes.
Luger - any model or caliber.
C96 Mauser Broomhandle
Colt Peacemaker
Colt 1851
Smith & Wesson top break in .32 S&W
Smith & Wesson Model 10 6" thin barrel
Colt Official Police
Smith & Wesson Model 29
Smith & Wesson Model 27 in 3-1/2" (Hey, already have one :D)
Colt Python
Colt 1911
Walther PPK
Browning 1910
Colt .380 1903
Colt Detective Special
Ruger Single Six
Ruger Mk1 Automatic

When I think of classic handguns, I think of things I have seen since growing up. No Nagant's, no MAB's, no Webley's, no pinfires. Just the guns I have seen in TV shows, movies, etc... Those are what I see as classics, and I hope I have a pretty representative selection here.

The Doc is out now.

The Classics

Proud owner of all three, listed here in NO particular order:

1) 5" Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special (blued) .45 ACP.

2) Blued Browning Hi-Power 9m/m, with factory wood grips
and adjustable sights; in UNFIRED condition, but no box.

3) 3.5" Smith & Wesson model 27-2 blued with triple T's, factory
Goncolo Alves target grips, tools and paperwork; in UNFIRED
status. Complete in wooden presentation case. Manufactuered
in 1977.

Additional Classic: I own 2x Smith & Wesson model 39-2 9m/m's;
one in the original, hinged dark blue box with silver lettering and
extra magazine, tools, warranty card, spec sheet, etc.; also in
UNFIRED status. Its A 121xxx serial number places in DOB as
1970. I also have another 39-2 in N.R.A. excellent condition,
from 1981. I consider the 39 and 39-2's as "CLASSIC'S" in
their own right; as they were the predecessor to the later
"WONDER NINES"~!

Either a Colt 1908 Pocket Hammerless in .380 Auto, or the 1903 Pocket Hammerless in .32 Auto.

Either would suffice ;)
