I use some of these.
The slots were too wide to hold my pistols snug, so I disassembled them. Using wood dowels instead of plastic, I made an 8 slot out of two 3-slot units. Now it fits my little shelf just right, and holds each pistol upright and snug.
Caution though, the foam is flimsy and will start to sag with a heavier gun leaning against the foams ends (not against a solid wall/brace/box of ammo).
Mike (Gixerman1000)- THANK YOU for the spool idea. Hanging some pistols on the door have been a dream for a while. Just too costly on a budget to even buy a bunch of nylon holsters at the local gun show.
