As far as understanding, how many posts have been posted here about a manufacturer or dealer saying it was OK, including the ones who told me the same thing? Are they ignorant of the laws or just don't care? Or maybe they don't "comprende"either.

It won't be the first time.

In any case, you have the USPS regulations in post 20. They seem pretty straight forward to me.

To my limited knowledge, a gun owner(handgun) can mail a handgun to a licensed shop/gunsmith for custom work or repairs. The gun owner must use a private shipment firm like UPS or FedEx. The shipment must be insured/overnight express. ...

I have successfully shipped to FFLs using FedEx 3 day rate + plus insurance by showing up Friday and saying you want to ship a firearm. They'll say it'll need to go overnight bla bla bla.... They'll give you the overnight rate with a Monday delivery date. Then you say, "that's 3 days" and press your point that you want to only pay the 3 day rate if it can't get there any faster than 3 days. It may take a while after they have to get a manager and discuss.

I pulled this off 3 out of 4 times and the 4th was a redo of the 3rd at another FedEx location.

Use these three simple rules.

Rule 1)
Use FedEx or UPS to ship a handgun. You can't use USPS.

Rule 2) Use any carrier to ship a long gun. USPS is the least expensive and no ammo with the gun.

Rule 3) Go on the manufacturers website to see how they want you to ship. If they don't have one call them and ask. If they tell you to do something other than 1) or 2), make sure you have a good attorney before you do it. ;)

Those of us who ship know these rules. I apologize if my response was a bit snarky.
