Handi-rifle barrel interchangable??

Does anybody know if Handi-rifle barrels are interchangeable??

It has always been my understanding that they are NOT interchangeable, in the same way a T/C gun is, but, I have recently had several people talking about buying extra barrels for their guns.

Are the ones that fit a fluke?? Or has NEF figured out a way to hold the specs tight enough they now fit??

Since the traditional single-shot NEF/H&R product line is kaput, getting a gunsmith to fit a second barrel is probably your only option if you don't trust yourself to to it.

It is my understanding that when Remington took over making the Handi Rifle that you could at one time up until about 2014 send it to Remington in Ilion to have the barrel fitted. Now the whole thing has been shut down. I could ask if you want someone who works there to see if any of the old employees who fitted those barrels are willing to provide that service independently. There were only certain calibers available.

Back to anybody: I have a brake open NEF/H&R single shot, it is in a lot of small parts, I have no interest in putting it back together. But if I was and had a stack of barrels I would measure the length of the chamber from the shoulder of the chamber and breach face for each. Then I would form/size cases to fit each barrel when installed.

As opposed to? 'somebody' fitting the barrel to the action using SAAMI specifications. Remember, for most the chamber is OK if the bolt will not close on a no go-gage. For the 30/06 that could be +.004". When I am sizing/forming cases to fit I reduce the +.004" to .zero.

Someone gave me an NEF basket case, something wrong with the hammer blocking bar.

I gave up. It is never cost effective for me to do anything, and it was not fun.

Ok from the answers given, it appears that barrels can be fitted, which I knew, BUT, they are NOT interchangeable from frame to frame like a T/C, which is what I thought.
