According to CNN Financial the Robertson clan of Duck Dynasty fame are coming out with a line of shotguns, two rifles, and a pistol made by Mossberg. I don't know what Mossberg knows about manufacturing rifles or pistols but I will probably at least buy the pistol in support of Phil Robertson considering the attacks from the politically correct crowd which he has endured. Maybe they can also produce some .22LR.....

Oh good grief. Yaay.

Whatever. If it puts more guns in the hands of more people, I'm all for it.

The inanity of an AR-lookalike .22 pistol in marsh reed camo so you can "clear cottonmouths out of your duck blind" is just so delicious you can see the "stoopud" radiating off like heat shimmer over asphalt on an August day.

But sure hope they sell a million of 'em.

It's surely not the most appalling thing Mossberg has done.

Not sure this really sounds like their own line....sounds more just like the Bone Collector branded stuff that many manufactures sell.

I just don't get it... I have tried to watch that show and can not get into it. I like what they stand for but can't get into the show. Probably won't buy the guns either. Maybe it will get some fence sitters on board though.

I'm curious if this is a 'branded' type deal or a special edition of sorts of a rifle, shotgun, etc, that they actually use, and may have a thing or two tailored to their liking, hunting style, etc..

Not trying to sound too cynical, I've watched them as Duck Commander long before the Duck Dynasty rhinestones, I just hate it when stuff gets over-commercialized.

[As usual, we aren't going to do a thread ABOUT a TV show, and certainly not about any celebrity drahhhmah and contravasty.

We can talk about the guns, but let's keep to our standards and stay above the boob tube characters and mass media bull-oney.

Thanks!]

You got it.

Just a bunch of their standard offerings, pretty much all of them, with a marsh camo paint job.

Now, if that camo paint job just had a bright red white and blue bandana tied around the barrels, well, I think the satire would be complete!

But, again, if it convinces another newb to buy a shotgun or rifle, I'm behind it 110%. Heck, I'll tie the bandana on myself!

I could be wrong but I can't imagine that too many watchers are "fence sitters" with regard to gun ownership. Maybe it will cause some to buy a gun they may not have. I have no interest but if it sells some guns for Mossberg, why not.

It certainly isn't going to hurt us in any way. I know lots of people who aren't necessarily big gun folks but who love that show. Maybe this will turn one or two of them.

I have to disagree, I am a high school teacher and many of my co-workers watch the show and have never fired a gun.

I'm all for Phil expressing himself and that he and his clan levered their way out of the hole that was A&E, but the show is not appealing to me at all.

I've owned a few Mossbergs in my life and they were fine shotguns. I am always for new entries into the handgun market since they are my focal point firearm-wise. You think it will be like the revolvers the folks at Taurus and S&W have which shoot the ol' .410? A semi? 1911 style I hope.

So, Tankless, lets stay on topic. Would you buy a handgun from Mossberg? What would you like to see them crank out?

I have no problems with Mossberg, own a few. If they made a product that fit my needs, I would buy it. And I think I may need something that says Duck Commander on it just to support him. Maybe 2 or 3.......

Can't stand the Robertson family. If everyone else knew what dirt they were responsible for in New Orleans, they would not be considered the "moral" family they like to pass off as. I also don't like "celebrities" slapping their name on firearms and changing a few cosmetics to justify the higher price tag.

That pistol looks kind of neat, I must say. I wish that they would make a Storage Wars Series of guns. Dave would be one that works great and shoot well, but everybody hates anyway, Barry would be one that everybody loves in spite of his shortcomings, and Brandy would be the one that you can't stop cleaning for some reason!

Can't get to their website right now but if they did something tasteful and in a model I wouldn't mind getting I'd pick one up for sure. I think that AR 12 gauge with some Duck Dynasty stuff on it would be pretty cool.

I'm holding out for the breacher model 12ga assault duck cannon. :-D

I know there was a book recently that got a lot of young girls into archery. Maybe the TV show and shotguns with their name on them can do something similar for some of the younger crowd.

Mossberg as performance art,,,

In all seriousness, I've been arguing that Mossberg has purposefully been doing an unholy combination of kitsch, satire and manufacturing performance art for years now.

I have to agree with you here,,,
I own a Mossberg International 702 Plinkster,,,
It's a fine little .22 and I am happy with it's performance,,,
None of my friends Marlin 60's or Ruger 10/22's shoot better than my Plinkster.

But go to their website and look at all the variations they sell it in,,,
Pink camo stocks, flash hiders, and tactical stock versions,,,
I'm not ragging them so much as mourning the name.

It's sad to think that the company who made the excellent 340 KC rifle,,,
Is now pandering to those who like a cool gun over a practical gun.

You are correct, and that book would be The Hunger Games. I know of several families where one or more daughters took up competitive archery due to that book.

Awhile ago I came across a guy who had gotten into shooting because of video games and had chosen the Beretta 92fs as his first gun because it is the primary sidearm of the heroes in the popular Resident Evil series of games.

The folks from Duck Dynasty promoting shooting is a good thing.
