Hard crome finish

I dont know if it will eat it off, but HC will rust to some extent, especially if you dont keep after it.

This is my one 1911 I had hard chromed. If you look close at the back edge of the grip panel, what you see there is rust and some light pitting. There is more under the grip as well. There are also a few small spots on the thumb safety, and the bottom of the slots on both screws have rust in them. Damage wasnt anywhere near as bad as the blued or SS guns Ive carried, but it was still there, and even when wiping the gun down at the end of every day. That part of the gun was the only part that wasnt covered/protected by the sweat shield of the holster, and was against my body (tee shirt).

Hard chrome can and will also polish mirror bright at contact points over time.
