Recieved German Border Guard P7 PSP

I just received my German Border Guard P7 PSP from my local dealer. I am thinking about buying another. I already have 2 M8's though.

He had quoted me
$725 for the excellent condition
$575 for the Very Good
$525 for the Good

I did notice his price on the excellent was 649 probally plus shipping as he generally has a $60 markup on handguns from a distributer and if they have shipping included in the price he marks up exactly 60 bucks.

I was there when he called into RSR to order it last week and I was thinking of just getting a very good model but his sales rep went in the back and looked at the pistols and said they could send me one in the excellent catagory that was practically a 100%. I hesitated becuase I figured with the finish, I would probally end up hard croming eventually anyway but I sprung for the excellent. I would rate the condition just as they described and it was probally never issued to an officer. IT is not refurbished and the crest is not milled of of the side. Additionally there is no warning on the side of the slide! SO today I am shopping for yet another pelican case with locks, some mags from arizona gun runners, some gold dot's etc.

Does anyone know shich holster makers do PSP holsters, since they are a little smaller than the m8?
 
That sounds like a good deal. The PSP is better for concealed carry. Don't let anyone give you nonsense about slow reloads with the butt mounted mag release because this one , unlike others is pushed forward, with a two hand hold you just drop your left hand , forefinger catching the mag extension and thumb pressing forward on the release. I've left range officers shaking their heads in disbelief when I reloaded just as fast as a 1911 !! My PSP is 20 years old and Ihave a n old Milt Sparks IWB that works great. For my M10 I have a Wilderness Zip-slide which is also great. Since PSP has been out of print for a while it might be a special order.
 
First off the PSP is an extraordinary gun but with you having owned a pair of M8’s you already know this, having said that you might want to feed it some hollow points first before carrying any for defense.

I’ve owned one PSP and shot two more and all had a disliking for HP’s, but worked fine with ball.

Have you determined the production date of your PSP??

(I'm just curious to know if it's one of "1991-1995 reissued PSP's", or if it's an original early 1980's model.) :eek:
 
As an historical footnote, we (3rd Squadron, 7th Cav - the Divisional Cavalry Squadron for the 3rd Infantry Div.) worked quite a bit with the German Border Police (Bundesgrenzschutz) while patrolling the East/West German border in the 80's. Our border station was in a BGS Kaserne (post) in Coburg and we used their rifle range and ammo storage dump.

The BGS is a paramilitary organization - they were called police but organized and equipped as a military unit, incluiding long arms and wheeled armored cars.

Grenzschutz Gruppe 9 (GSG9) is their counter-terror & hostage rescue organization and highly trained. They were developed after the German police bungled their chances to free the hostages at the '72 Olympics. The British SAS and [reportedly] Isreali counter-terror teams helped develop their training and tactics. They go through an intensive selection and training course, including extremely intensive firearms training.

Not anymore. Nowadays we are a rather "normal" police force - underpaid, overworked cops driving around in old squad cars, doing immigration control and transit police work. We still do have MP5's readily accessible in our armory though :)

Was, then, but a fine organization. On the flip side, I bet not having heavy armor tearing up the pavement is a plus, not to mention no more "Amis" in the way! I was very excited when the Wall finally came down.

Once we had a tank (M60A3 - 60+ tons) slip off an icy dirt road going uphill and slide downhill into a farmer's yard - backwards. Knocked down a good sized tree in the process but missed his barn.

I explained that I had radioed the "Manoverschaden" [Manuever Damage] officer and he would come out and adjudicate payment for the tree and any other damage.

The elderly farmer was completely unconcerned. "Herr Lieutenant," he said, "If I did not have American tanks in my yard, I would have Russian tanks in my yard..."

I haven't experienced the "old" Border Police as I joined as late as 1999. But I think a lot of things have gone downhill since then. Our upper-level superiors have proven to be absolutely spineless on a number of occasions. Everybody station commander and above is a politico of his own already. Real leaders are few and far in between. I've worked as a watch commander for a year now, and I see even the last remains of motivation disappear among my officers.

There were two big reforms in the last couple years, during which the ministry virtually gutted the force.

Did I mention that I quit already? I'll get out next month, get into private security for a while and then pursue a career in the State police.

I just got mine

I got a Very Good. The ONLY marks on it at all were small rub marks from the box. I don't believe it was ever fired after the factory tested it.

I just got off the phone with Mark at Heckler & Koch, Inc. in Sterling. I asked him how and what I needed to do to have HK give my gun a good once over to ensure its in tip top shape. (springs etc...) He said very politely that sorry....HK didn't import the gun, so we they wont back it. I have to call the importer in WA for help if I need any repairs ect. They will not even look at the gun. That is HK's policy!!

Tom Harris has one that is LIKE NEW, EXCELLENT condition. It has the two little horizontal lines thru the BMI. Comes with german manual, case, tool, 2 mags. It is very very nice (I looked at it). It is one imported by PW Arms. Tom is supposedly getting one more in the same condition.

I'm a sucker for these beautiful little pistols. I ordered an excellent condition one from Wild. Can't wait.
 
How do they look with the two horizontal lines through the BMI mark? Does it look bad?

me too!

I just picked one up from my local gun store.
Mine is dated 11/91. BMI stamp has two lines through it but the crests on the frame, slide and barrel are untouched. Cool gun.
Mine also came with a German manual.
