I have recently been doing some research on a Harris Bipod for my Savage Arms Mako. I know I want the BR (Bench Rest) Model Series-S (Swivel). Right before buying the HBR-S I saw there was an HBRM-S which means the legs were ejected out by springs at the push of a button. Normally I wouldn't care for something like that. The price, however was exactly the same. I have had trouble finding reviews on the series-M bipods. I would like to go to a gun store and look at it personally, but any advice would be much appreciated.

Sincerely,

No experience with the HBR-S but I have the HBRM-S. If I understand correctly the HBR-S has little knobs that you turn for a friction lock on the legs which extend to any height you want within the range of movement....

On the HBRM-S the legs are notched, and there is a spring "latch" that fits into the grooves, so you have set intervals to which you can adjust the legs length (maybe 4 knotches or so). I like it because for a bench its easy to get the legs at an even height very quickly.

They ARE spring loaded, but ONLY from the fully collapsed position, where the spring on the end of the feet are fully compressed. For instance if the leg is half way extended, and you want to lower it the full amount, it will only drop from gravity and then the latch snaps into place when you release, it wont actually "pop" out any further. From the fully closed position though the spring is strong enough to push it to fully extended in a hurry.

Hope that helps.

I have the harris S-25 swivel bipod (12-25 inch). Mine has the spring legs that re-tract when your ready to pick up and go, but you manually pull them out when your setting up. The quality is good and I recommend buying the 12 dollar short thumb lever sold separately on midwayusa. It is used to adjust the swivel tightness. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=153528 and let me add you can go to the harris website and they will answer questions you might have.

Finnaly bought the HBLM-S

Thanks for all of your advice. I went ahead and ordered the HBLM-S from LG Outdoors. I am also going to purchase the pod lock for the bipod. When the bipod comes I will post a small review of it.
