POC wannabe 1911 from Llama , safety lock broke after less than 500 rounds. The gun literally fell apart in my hand while firing I gave it away & never bought another Llama

I bought the wife a Taurus 38 spl Ultralite for her ccw gun.(Yeah and I even Love her LOL)It was a little snubbie which I can't even remember what model number it was.I've never been a Taurus fan to begin with but thought it would be a nice little carry gun for her..We went to the range and fired a few rounds. When I got it from her I noticed on 3 of the chambers the cylinder wouldn't lock in place. The next day I took it to my dealer,he sent it off to Taurus. When it got back ,I traded it in on a S&W M637.There wasn't much difference in price. That was my first and last Taurus.

Had a PT111 break with less than 200 rounds through it and had a Bersa 380 break with less than 500 rounds through it.

S&W Model 22A

I bought a beautiful S&W Model 22A and ran about a thousand rounds through it before it decided to quit working. The gun is designed with some kind of nylon follower (which of course wore out) and when I replaced it with one of the new ones... the jams started. I shot it off and on for about another month and the rear slide refused to stay latched down... one shot, and the gun came apart. Getting it to stay together was impossible.

I called S&W's customer service yesterday, and they told me to send the pistol back to them and they will fix it... probably take about six weeks or so to turn it around, since the .22 factory is in Maine and they will have to ship it there.

Curiously, one of my "shooting buddies" had one exactly like it, and had exactly the same kind of problems with it. He shipped his back a couple of weeks ago.

Again, the guns themselves are beautiful... but they have what I would consider a pretty crappy design. I shoot S&W pistols all the time, and this is the first one that's actually given me any kind of trouble. I told them to treat it gently... it's the last present my wife gave me before she died from cancer, so it's got a lot of sentimental meaning to me. I just want it to work.

To S&W's credit, however, they are sending me a shipping label to send the gun to them, and once they fix it will ship it back. "We stand behind what we manufacture" was the comment that stuck with me... too few things you buy today have that kind of warranty. 'Til it gets back, I'll just have to keep pumping .22's downrange with my Walther P22... which is another great little gun. The only problem with it is I keep running out of ammo...:uhoh:

I have had two guns over the year’s fail with in the first 100 rounds. Both were rifles. I know this is the hand gun page but it still is disappointing and makes you question quality control and the reliability of all firearms. The first was an Auto Ordnance 1928 Tommy gun (semi-auto). Fired the first 30 round mag perfect. Loaded the second and fired three rounds when a sheer pin broke allowing the firing pin to lodge and slammed fired the remaining 27 rounds even with the trigger released. The second was a Bushmaster AR-15. The trigger pin broke and wedged the trigger in place. Both rifles where sent back to the factory and repaired. The service was excellent from both companies but with both guns I always questioned will it break again and never really trusted them fully. I have been lucky with new handgun purchase but have gotten several used handguns with simple issues of sights falling off and grip screws falling out or stripped.

Yes, a few.

The most recent is the new Skyy.

At 180 rounds the trigger bar broke but by then the slide had eaten into the frame rails so bad the gun was becoming unsafe anyhow.
Since then I found that parts breaking and unusual wear on these guns is a common thing.

I sent the gun back to Skyy. They replaced the trigger bar but said the frame wear was "normal". I've been shooting 50 years and I know normal wear and I know potentially dangerous wear.

I doubt I'll shoot this piece of junk again.

Haven't got any individual guns over 20,000 rounds. But have had parts breakage at ~25, ~200, ~3500, ~7500, & ~8000. rounds..None of the fixed guns have broke again so far.

It was my RIA that broke its link at ~3500 rounds, it at about 13,000 now without further issues, I think its become my highest round count gun now.

If you've never broken a gun, you just aren't shooting enough!

Kimber Ultra Carry:

First, a slide lock, then a mag release, then then an extractor broke. Ouch!
Two years later, the second mag release...

Somewhere in there, I had to send it back to get the grip safety fixed.

I don't have anything good to say about MIM parts.

Broke tauruses

Broke a Taurus pt145 and 2 taurus 85ti. will never buy another taurus again.

This reminds me of a Beretta Model 21 A. I wanted a small pocket pistol. The few times I took it out and it was constantly jamming. I'd clean it and it would shoot fairly well for a half box and start jamming again. I'm not at all impressed with this little Beretta.Maybe I haven't got it broken in.I haven't fired it in a few years.

Kel-tec pf9 50 rounds and the hammer stop broke, sent it to kel-tec and they sent it back. all they did was grinf off what was left on the sides and said it would still shoot. I sold it the next day back to the place i brought it. If it didn't effect the gun ,why did they put it on to begin with.

Sig P229R, firing pin positioning pin broke
Kimber Eclipse, "new" extractor malfunctioned, Kimber replaced with traditional 1911 extractor and has had zero malfunctions since. Mainspring housing broke, didn't realize it was plastic until it cracked. Replaced it with a metal one.
Fanchii o/u shotgun, ejector rod broke on bottom barrel, still waiting after nearly six months

Almost nope

A S&W Model 36 broke a firing pin, but that was the only gun I have of those that I liked that I ever had a problem with. S&W fixed it right away.

Now, I had an Armi San Marco .36 replica, that I had loads of problems with. :cuss:

Those problems finally ended though. I gave it away.

The Doc is out now.

I must be an odd ball. I have bought four new handguns. All of them had problems. Now get this: My two new Kel-Tecs (bad reputation) were fixed easily by me with a little fluff 'n buff and problem solving.
My two new RUGERS (reputation for being the most reliable out there) both has serious failures and needed to be sent back to the factory. Me and a buddy both bought P95s together (mine stainless, his blue) my safety broke internally causing the safety switch to flop around, his extractor either broke or the spring did causing the extractor to flop around. this with low round count of walmart white box 9mm.

My sp101 had a tight cylinder gap causing it to bind up hard after just a couple cylinders of firing.

s&w walther ppk/s with cracked frame somewhere between 0 and 300 rounds(counting factory test round).

Bersa Thunder 380 Concealed Carry model quit after the 61st round. Both the trigger and hammer were free floating. Swapped it for a Sig P232 alloy frame w/NS and never looked back.

My brand new Super Redhawk jammed up after two or three rounds my first time out with it. Sent it back, they fixed it, no worries. My S&W m37 did the same thing. Must be something about me and new revolvers.... :neener:

Never with a semiauto, rifle, shotgun, or a used revolver. Go figure.
