i have been shooting colibris ammo through one of my 22 for a while and have never had a problem.(glenfield model 10 single shot bolt) and i have been wanting to shoot it out of my marlin model 60,but i am scared of messing up the barrel. my glenfield was a beater and i didn't care what happened to it. saturday i got rid of the glenfield at a gunshow(which i now regret) and i have been wanting to do some backyard rabbit and squirrel hunting.is it safe to do it through my marlin?

I can't say that I have, but I would not shoot Col through a semi-auto. Just too under powered to work well at all. I don't think you will be very happy with a single shot semi that may have a clogged pipe.

I shoot the super colibris out of my Henry lever action with no problems for years.

The only time I had one get stuck in a barrel was on a really old Marlin 60 that had a bazillion rounds thru it. The marlin hadn't been cleaned for years so that may have caused it.

The colibris don't have enough power to cycle a marlin 60 (or a ruger 10/22) and are a pain in the butt to get to feed out of the magazine tube. However - the henry lever feeds them without a hickup.

COLIBRI

The Super Colibri also are not enough to cycle a blowback semi-auto pistol with a 3" barrel. Have to hand cycle it each time.

I found them to have sort of average accuracy.

I have shot the old Colibris (not the Super) out of both a Winchester '06 and a Marlin 39A without incident. I initialy wondered if I would have problems with the longer barrel of the Marlin, and watched it carefully, making sure that I heard a "plink" on target prior to working the lever.

Even if you were to have one squib in the barrel, you should be able to get it free with a range rod without buggering up your firearm.

As has been mentioned, these will not cycle a semi-auto, but they are tons of fun out of a pump or a lever action. You can fit a whole passel of those little pills in a tubular magazine!

I've tried the Super-Colibris in my Marlin Model 60...They even feed (manually) from the magazine. No problems, including squibs in the barrel.

I've had the occasional Colabri lodge in a rifle barrel. No big deal, just push it out with a cleaning rod.

In my experience, you can free them quickly by simply firing another Colibri (NOT a full-powered round!). I believe the pressures involved are so small that there is no risk of harm to the barrel. Others will disagree. I've done it lots of times, with a variety of rifles, and have never seen any sign of harm - no bulges, so changes in the force needed to run a patch through. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Needless to say, you can quickly ruin a barrel by firing a *full-power* .22 when the bore is obstructed. Be sure the barrel is clear before you put it away at the end of the day.

Never lodged a Colibri in my 10/22. They feed OK (hand cycling) from the 10/22's rotary magazine.

Nice loads, actually . . . comparable in power to a quality .177 air rifle (slower speed, but heavier bullet) and not much louder than snapping your fingers.

Assuming you aren't expecting the semiauto to cycle using the Colibri's, you can use them with little to no problems. As HankB just said, they work in a 10/22 and I've also used them in a Marlin 60.

I even went to the trouble of chronographing them. With standard (not Super) Colibri I got an average of 418 fps out of a 10/22. About the same as a CO2 powered air rifle.

IMX, accuracy of the Colibri's is .... well, actually you shouldn't even consider using the word "accuracy" when discussing Colibri's.

I've never successfully fired a Colibri or Super Colibri from my CZ-452 special:banghead: Those little pills make it about 1/2 way down the barrel and then poop out. I do enjoy them for "gallery" practice indoors with my S&W model 17-4. They are accurate enough for 3" offhand groups at 15 yards, and of course are very quiet.

Has worked great in my Marlin bolt action. Accuracy is disappointing past
20 yds, but it can still kill rabbits and squirrels. You can actually hear the
round thipppp into their lung cavity after the bolt snaps off the round.

I've shot several thousand out of my Win. M-290 and a few out of my Marlin M-60.
I don't believe I've had a stuck bullet in a barrel. Although there is a curious ring in my Win. barrel that I've suspected might have been caused by a Super Colibri that was stuck in the barrel unknowingly and I shot a live round out of afterward. I really don't know for certain.

One of my buds had a Super Colibri stick in the barrel of his 9422. A tap or two on a cleaning rod cleared it.

Aguila does not recommend shooting Colibris out of rifles.

I put 6 into a Win model 69 barrel before I found out why I wasn't hitting the target. Those 6 bullets took a .200" steel rod and a 5 pound hammer in a lubed barrel to come out!:uhoh:
