I want an official Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time!

OK, not really, but I have been looking for an old Marlin Glenfield Model 60 with 18 round mag tube and a squirrel on the stock. Finally found one in a barrel at Miller's Guns in Delaware. $89.00 and decent condition. I am a happy man.

Can anyone recommend a peep rear sight that will fit on the receiver dovetail? It is not tapped.

And I think I heard that older models will feed .22 short and long as well as LR. Is this true? I know the new ones say .22 LR ONLY.

Williams makes a peep that fits on the receiver and uses the scope grooves to attach. I am pretty sure you will need a taller front sight.

I just bought a marlin 60 made in 1986 IIRC and it will not feed shorts. It will feed the CB longs through the action but you will have to operate the bolt yourself. Just load up the tube and fire away. Its like having a straight pull bolt action rifle.

My rifle has the long tube and 22" barrel. It also has the last shot hold open.

I have/had 3 Marlin Model 60's, two are Glenfields, complete with Squirrel embossing. Two cost less than $75 off the used rack, out the door. A couple of scratches on the stocks, but basically they were closet queens tucked back behind someone's old suit I guess.

I looked into peep sights and such and finally decided to just mount a relatively inexpensive adjustable scope (3x9 x 40).

I say have/had because I made the mistake of letting my 33 year old daughter use it the last time we went to the range as a family and she "borrowed" it.

It's a surprising little tack driver

I have 3 "Speedee Lodrs" for them so I can sit in a chair at home and load up to save range time. The Lodr holds 15 rounds to fill the tube and I hand load tha lastr 3.

Well, I got it out to the range. At 25 yards, it shoots groups of 5 that almost all touch, and I can't take credit for that myself being no rifleman (yet). It was shooting high right, and I adjusted the hight by removing the rear sight "comb" to let it drop as much as possible. Now I guess I need to drift the rear sight to the right a bit. Never done that. Any suggestions?

icecorps, don't lose that stepladder, plus the ammo you were shooting, was it standard velocity, high, subsonic? normally you shouldn't have to remove the ladder. also to move your shots right, tap the rear site to the right, if you wanna move your shots left, tap the rear sight over to the left.
just use the blunt end of a screwdriver, small taps, then reshoot and see what happened. no , the older ones wouldn't do s,l, lr's, only a very few would do all three, and do them reliably. namely the remmy speedmasters would, and as far as reliably, i would only count them. you will see some old savage/sprinfields marked to do so as well, don't buy them, they will not do it, they have worn out enough to were they won't do the shorts anymore.
I bought my remmy used, and it is at least 30 years old, and it will pump them down range , no probs...

After shooting it last I discovered one of the screws attaching receiver to stock was loose. Now that I've tightened it up, I'm going to shoot it again before deciding how to adjust the sights.

Rangerruck, WHICH Williams peep sight?

Oh, and it would not feed .22 shorts.

yeah, it will not cycle shorts, but if you have a really smoothed up action, it may do longs for you which is nice for backyard plinking...

there is a set about 3/4 the way down the page you can check out, or I am sure they also have just a rear site, that you can use with the mod 60 front site...
