Has anyone actually USED a sjambok?

Racoons, hate 'em. They run around on my roof at night and sound like bowling balls dropping from the sky.

Finally cornered one on my deck one night, a juvenile ~20+ lbs. Happened to have my 36" Sjambok at hand. I gave it one good whack with all of my strenght -no whip motion but a solid baton swing. No blood or fur flew, but the racoon did go "oof!" Hit it a second time and it jumped off the deck, preferring to fall 15' rather than take whack #3.

I was disappointed because I had expected more than just an "oof", however the racoons have been scarce around here lately.

I just bought a Cold Steel Sjambok.. Gonna teach myself how to use it really well..

I also bought a Cold Steel baseball bat, and an escrima stick..

Would like to teach myself how to be more proficient at weapons..
