has anyone adapted the Dillon powder measure to fit the hornady LNL?

just dont trust my Hornady lnl . difficult to adjust . sure is just me?

sure miss my CH pistol champ four station press with the push button slide powder meeasure. If i did not have four lnl shell plates and stuff would trade. Oh well. need to make more money just buy another one.

I used the Dillon powder measure on my Hornady Pro-Jector press (same principal) before I bought my LNL. I sold the Dillon measure with the Pro-Jector after I had it rebuilt after loading something like 400,000 rounds on it, and much prefer the Hornady powder measure, since it's more consistant with the small amounts of Bullseye I drop for .38 Special loads. Mine is extremely consistant from drop to drop, and I wouldn't go back to the Dillon, but that's my choice.

Hope this helps.

reload fred . . so it really is just me and not paying attention. . suspected I was wrong. I load mostly lead. in all of my calibers, 32 acp 380 , 9 mm 38 357 38 specail 40s&W and 10 mmm.
been waiting for months for the improved hornady powder thru expander, cant seem to prevent getting case mouth open enough to avoid, shaving a bit of lead outside the case,

I have been using an extra step and size decap and prime . then replace that die with a lee powder thru expander or some other stuff that i have from RCBS and lYman to expand case months. Seems to avoid the shaving lead problem.

Now if i can just get my act together and pay more attention to what i am doing, maybe i can get my powder drop more consistant.

thanks

Be sure to use the pistol insert for those calibers, since the rifle insert is too big and won't drop consistantly with very small amounts of pistol powder.

I also decap, clean primer pockets and prime off the press. My first die is an expander die (Lyman M die or RCBS expander, depending on caliber). The powder measure is in the second hole, and the seating die in the third hole. The fourth hole contains the crimping die and the fifth has a Lee FCD that isn't screwed down all the way, just enough for the carbide ring to make sure the loaded round is within spec, but the only time it ever touches the brass is when I'm loading .358" bullets in military .38 Special brass.

I use the universal pistol insert for the powder measure, which doesn't expand the case mouth.

Hope this helps.

I like the Dillon powder measure and have often thought it would make a great addition to a LNL. But I was mainly thinking that because of the way the LNL AP flares cases. I simply like the way Dillon does that step better.

There is a guy selling a 3rd party expander that works with the stock Hornady AP setup here: http://powderfunnels.com/

Walkalong adapted a Redding measure to his LNL and reports great results.

The linkage on the current Dillon PM would have to be modified to eliminate the "failsafe" (downrod), or find a way to hook it to the LNL AP frame. Then it wouldn't be able to move to different stations.

Over the years, I've seen plenty of folks that have put Hornady or RCBS PM & linkage on a Dillon progressive, but never the other way 'round.
