I won the lottery...well, at least A lottery. I got a slot in the CMP Advanced Maintenance Class next year.

They say all I will need to bring is eyes and an apron...is there anything else I should bring? I am assuming a stack of extra money in case I get into the store.

They say I can build a CMP Special or a Field Special. Since these use new barrels, I assume the difference is whether my receiver is rust pitted or not. I am still debating on whether a clean receiver is worth $200.

Is there a choice to build a .308 instead of a 30-06 special? Since this won't be a collectible, and it will likely be the LAST rifle I would sell a .308 would be something new and different. I already have a Garand in 30-06.

Is there anything else you wish you could have done or seen?

If you don’t get a response here go to the CMP forums and post it there (particularly on the garand board). I’ve seen posts there about building your own weapon while in that course. Hope this helps...

If you won the lottery (a lottery), then I guess that means that I didn't. Nothing in my email about it :(
