Has the Sig P938 not been as popular as Sig Saur had hoped? It doesn't seem like they are getting much hits on the online auctions.

In my area they seem popular. I think, ultimately, the price keeps it back some as most can't see spending the coin when compared to other mouse guns.

I had a P238. Loved it, but wanted a .4x caliber. Ended up with an M&P40c. Conceals just fine. I feel I may want another mouse gun and may look at the 938.

I'm interested in one, but I'd have to get rid of my 238 first. And I heard of some initial problems with the 938 (just like the 238 had teething problems), so I want to hold off for a while. No desire to be a beta tester!

But now that you mention it... I haven't heard from too many people who own 938s... 238 owners on the other hand are pretty easy to find.

I recently picked up one and like the concealability of it. A bit snappy, but controlable. Adequate accuracy, but that may improve with more trips to the range.

Had a couple of times when the round wasn't extracted and was half way out with the next round pushed up against the bottom of that half extracted shell.

They are very popular in my part of Kansas. I traded my 238 for the 938 as soon as the local gun shop got one, and I absolutely love it. I think the price does keep some who would like one at bay.

I've been carrying a P238 for some time, mostly in a pocket holster. I've recently bought a P938 and will start carrying that after I have a few more rounds through it.

I think it's because they are too large to be considered a true pocket gun. The only true pocket nine is the Rohrbaugh.

This is not a comment on the quality of the 938; it's outstanding, it's just not in the same size category as the Rohrbaugh.

The 238 is pocket size. The 938 is not.

Thats true Prince. I carried both the P238 and the P938 IWB in a Crossbreed. They both fit the same holster and the Crimson Trace laser fits both as well.

I have one for IWB. Never really considered it for pocket carry. I suppose that, with the appropiate pants, it could work, but nearly 100% of the time will see it on my 3-4 o`clock position.

I traded a small striker fired gun for it. Not much of a striker fire fan. Anyway, it is the Nightmare version and came with two of the 7 round magazines.

My wife has one. She likes it; usually carries it in the car. I've pocket carried it when we're together in an Uncle Mike's holster. I've only carried it in the front pocket of cargo shorts. Feels a little heavy; probably better to carry IWB.

Recoil isn't bad; she likes to shoot it better than her S&W 357 revolver.

Recoil is fairly snappy, sure. Not too bad, though. It has a nice feel in the hand, though. I'm going to have to run a few more rounds through it, though, to get more comfortable with it. Anyway, it does fit me [my carry requirements] a little better than the one I traded for it.

I think the price deters quite a few. There are so many pocket 9's available for much less and Sig's reputation has gone down so for many it's hard to justify the cost.

I agree....but if I ever shoot one I may change my mind. I like the looks of them.

Oh, they are definitely nice. The only reason my wife has one is because her parents offered to buy it. I would personally have a tough time spending $700 on a subcompact 9 when there are many more options cheaper :)

Still a nice gun though.

Any other comments on this topic?
Here's the story on our P938 Extreme: Multiple failures to extract. Different ammo, different mags, different shooters.

It's been back to SIG once, still got FTEs, so it's back there again. Fun pistol when it works.

I have been carrying a 938 for over a year now. It's the best set of compromises for my needs I have ever found in over three decades of carrying. Reliable and accurate, and in my right front pocket, where it usually resides in the summer. It has thousands and thousands through it with all types of ammunition, no issues with anything other than I recently discovered it didn't like a particular batch of Gold Dots, which didn't like to feed. Since then it has still fed hundreds of rounds of everything else flawlessly.. My 238 hardly leaves the house any more.

1KPerDay, . . . I have had two of those in ~70 rounds. I'm hoping it is due to it being a new pistol. I plan on running another 100 through it soon to see if I have anymore issues of this type.

Good luck... but IMO failures to extract have nothing to do with newness. Mine still did it after 1000+ rounds (before we sent it back the first time).

Mine has been flawless with all ammo that I have fed it. I do drop it in my front pocket at times, but generally goes in a little black holster at my 4 oclock. I did buy 2 extended magazines that I load with 124 jhp from blackhills. I know the 700+ price tag deters most people. I got mine for 650 last December. Its built like a tank and for me good out to 25 yds. Night sights are nice to.

I went through a period where I wanted a truely pocketable pistol, first was the Kel-Tec .380, then the LCP, next the Sig 238, then a Kahr P380. Both the KT & LCP had poor sights & hard long triggers which I didn't like. While the SIG had good sights & trigger, it seemed a bit big for my pockets, plus I never really wanted to carry cocked & locked. The Kahr was my last purchased .380 and for me the best, good smooth trigger, good useable sights, and with the simplicity of just pulling the trigger. Which brings me to the Sig 938, for the same reason I don't want to carry cocked & locked, so I have a Kahr PM9 if I want to go to a slightly larger gun w/holster, but I don't carry that much anymore as if I'm going to use a holster I might as well go with a larger round with more of them, which is why I carry a M&P .40 compact.
