I have a blackpowder burner from Hatfield Rifle Co. of St. Joseph Missouri. I was wondering if the company was still in business if there is anybody here from St. Joseph or know anything about the company.

It’s really a beautiful rifle, tiger maple stock, double set triggers, barrel longer than my arm, a work of art.

    Thanks

Hatfield sold out to someone else before it folded. That was years ago when I first wanted a blackpowder rifle. One thing to determine (and I can't help you there) is the rifle made by the original Hatfield firm or the buyer of the name?

    the original.

I did a little googling last nite and came up with an article from "Muzzleblast". Seems the original company did fold and later the name was bought by another maker there in St Joe that continued the guns with a few changes. Although later that one seems to have folded to. The search I did also came up with a large sporting goods store in St Joe of the Hatfield name but unknown if there is a connection.

The article said it is a great roundball shooter and corrected me on my description of the stock its curly maple not tiger, and got into a good review of the gun that was very positive.

Anyone else out there have a Hatfield from St. Joe?
