Hatsan 95 Vortex

I read the reviews and it looks like a good rifle. It looks to be more "usable" compared to the Hatsan 135. Also, Hatsan's velocity claims are with real lead pellets. So the 800 fps claim would be with 14 grain lead pellets in 22 cal, in the 750 - 800 fps range.

But I'm not sold on gas pistons. Conventional springs seem to be more reliable.

I only have one gas piston gun, and I can say it is smooth, but it is real hard on scopes....I have yet to find a mount and scope to live on the thing.....so I shoot it with open sites only now.

Smooth cocking is really the only thing I really notice over my metal spring guns.

Not sure on longer life, less problems.....a metal spring is pretty basic but they can have issues as well....anything made by man can have a problem. I don't think I would cross a gun off my list because it was a gas gun.

I would love to see a gas piston gun in the =<800 fps range....they all seem to be monsters....but that is what sells I guess even if they are very hard to shoot well.

I would think that if someone made a gas piston gun that shot a real world lead pellet in the 800fps range it would be much more friendly and make that technology take off a little more.

So here you go fpgt72, from one of the larger on line dealers of Hatsan out their.

One of our best selling break barrel air rifles! With the Hatsan Vortex Gas Ram system the model 95 just got an upgrade. The model 95 Vortex features a beautiful Turkish Walnut stock, fiber optic sights, and a 3-9X32 scope and rings. This gun shoots a true 1000 FPS with lead pellets. The model 95 comes in three caliber choices (.177, .22, and .25) that are perfect for pest control, small game hunting or just plinking around the yard. The vortex system will give you a smoother shooting cycle, extended product life and fewer moving parts. Try the new model 95 Vortex air rifle today.

The NP2 from Crosman does 825 FPS all day long with the 14 grain pellets.
It's a very easy to cock and shoot platform.
The Hatsans? I love them. Started with the 125 Sniper Gas Ram in .25 cal
I could and still can take bottle necks at 75 yards.
I can tell you the Wire Springs run at a higher FPS. Almost 100 FPS better.
But you better be danged good shooting those things!
It's a whole different world doing the Magnum Springers even if Gas Spring.

Now I've never had the 95 as it was always lower rated then what I like to shoot.
I can say give past Hatsans? It is probably a very good gun if you do a few things to it.
New piston seal and a good lube tune.

I'd think you have a chrony so watch the FPS. The Gas Ram as been known to fail.

The Quatro Trigger works best with a pull kind of 45 degrees UP towards the stock.
It's weird at first but t can grow on you.

The Hatsan 95 arrived today "Saturday" via FedX, 4 day delivery time, nothing to complain about there. The rifle is in super condition, one very, very small blemish on the underside of the forestock, not even enough to try to buff out. About the size of the comma on this page.

Shooting & cocking so far is very smooth all tho I've only got 8 pellets thru the tube. Sighting in was a snap also, we'll see later how it groups.

There you have it for now.

I will have to check that out.

I have looked at the NP2, and come very close to walking out with one....but there is just something I just don't like about them.

I do have a chrony and while I don't use it every day I do enjoy playing with it....I am a bit of a nerd where things like that go...both with the powder guns and with the air guns....tweaking loads, and playing with pellets for some reason I just enjoy the heck out of.

I bet with the air guns I run at least 100 rounds per day in....even on the super hot days I shoot in my basement....max range is only 18 yards but that is enough to get a good idea if a pellet will work or not. You can say for sure that if it is not grouping at 18 is it sure not going to group past that.

And you can shoot in your basement....how great is that. Just fun.....and where I live I can walk out my back door and shoot center fire rifle.....built a back stop the entire 9 yards.....perhaps it goes with getting old.

I can only shoot 10 rounds at a time thru my barrel cockers, something to do with old age and my various health problems. These new Barrel cockers are really something, they even do better than my R1 I got 30/40 years ago for $200 new.

I do usually manage to shoot a total of 30/40 rounds during the day total.

You guys are an inspiration. I need to get off my behind and shoot airgun at home more. I surely need the trigger time.
