Have a 642 and Sig C3 1911. What to buy now?

I have an S&W 442 that I carry everyday and Sig C3 compact 1911 that does bedside duty but may start to get carried now that it is getting colder. I'm going to the gun store today and think that I want to get a full size semi-auto. When I got the C3 I traded in a P229 which I liked very much and miss.

I really like the C3 and I really don't enjoy shooting the 442 at all but will invariably hold on to it forever b/c of its reliability and ease of carry. I want something that will be fun to shoot and possibly to replace the C3 bedside.

I am thinking a 226 or a 220, but really, I have no idea where to go from here and what to get.

Suggestions for the next piece to the puzzle? I'm looking to spend no more than $1000.

If you like the Sig 226 - why not get one in 9MM Luger
and get some extra mags. Might be a good idea if they
're-institute a ban on mags more than 10 rds. Also, 9MM
Luger ammo is about as cheap as any centerfire semi-auto
ammo - great for some economy at the range.

I have a full size 1911 as well as a J-frame, but got a
CZ 75B in 9mm luger for cheaper range sessions, as well as
wanting to experience a DA/SA semi-auto. Great gun reliable
and accurate, many like the SP01 but I'm happy with the
standard 75B with it's 16 rd mags, the SP01 is 19 rds.

Back to the Sig 226, it's used by the US Coast Guard,
Homeland Security, as well as many European armies. FIne
weapon.

That C3 is an awesome gun. I'd hold off on the P220 and check out some other options since you already have a nice single stack .45acp. H&K makes some really nice pistols. I'm also a big fan of the XD.45 compact and the glock 19.

Seriously, since you're a Sig fan, I think you should buy my pristine P229 Platinum Elite in 40SW.

Only reason I'm getting rid of it is I've slowly been changing over from a "Sig guy" to a "HK guy."

Before that, I was a "1911 guy".
Anyhow, this is the last Sig left, and it kills me to do it, but I need to fund my next HK.

BTW, funny you should mention the SW 642, I hate shooting mine too! Bought a HK P2000SK 9mm and now the 642 is on the chopping block too!

Good luck with your choice - seriously look at some of the HKs. Shoot some if you have the opportunity and you may become a convert like me!

P220 is a good gun. P226 would be cheaper ammo though. Tough call.

My J-frame is the all -steel Model 60-15 .357 Mag
3" Bbl. plain ramp front and adj. rear sight. I opted for
the longer Bbl. since it isn't my carry piece. I enjoy
shooting it. I'd like to try the all steel 640 which is like
the 642 but all steel and a 2 1/8" Bbl.

I'd also go for one of the wonder nines in case they ban hicap mags again. The Beretta 92, Sig 226, Ruger P89/94/95,SR9, HK USP, CZ 75/85/sp101, or Glock perhaps. Good luck
