Which Sig 1911?

I'm thinking about adding a new 1911 to the collection and I'd like to try out a Sig. My father in law and brother both have Sig 1911s and I was very impressed. Thinking about adding one to my collection, but I can't decide on which one. I've narrowed it down to the C3 and the two-tone Traditional Match Elite. I like the look of the stainless slide on black frames. I understand the C3 is a CCO size with an aluminum frame and the ME is a full size with a stainless frame. I have no really purpose for the gun other than a range toy.

I'm also kind of considering a Kimber CDP full size and possibly a Kimber Aegis full size. I'm interested in hearing thoughts, opinions, and/or recommendations.

Well I own a few 1911's, the C3 is my favorite. I love the size, ot makes it a great carry option. I actually went with the Crimson Trace model.

I've been looking at the c3 for a while myself. What I like about the C3 over the others is the conceal ability while keeping the longer barrel. I don't think you can go wrong with either of the sigs.

I am really starting to like the unique slide design of the Sig also.

The one I like the most is the sig tac ops traditional. I really like the look of the traditional over the sig style slide. More importantly I suspect, but have not confirmed, it might allow for more holster choices. Thus, I'd be inclined to pick the traditional of the two you mentioned.

However, if it is intended as a carry gun the C3 might get the nod. Since you say it is a range toy, for me I think I'd just as soon have a full size gun for that. I personally would rather have one of the sigs than the kimbers.

The Sig 1911 series is such a beautiful quality gun that I would be afraid of scratching it or getting it dirty shooting it. Out of my price range.

I enjoy my C3 as much as any pistol I own, and like it more than my Kimber, and Dan Wesson both of which I like a lot. Have seen some good prices on used C3's lately, too. Good luck,

I believe the different slide design is only a problem for kydex holsters. And I'm a leather man, so that really isn't a factor for me.

I also found the Platinum Elite model that looks like a C3 but is full size. It appears to be discontinued, but I might find a used one. I'd have to ditch the aluminum grips though.

Because I prefer adjustable rear sights on most of my handguns (the exceptions being on pistols being drawn from "deep cover", from the pocket or from an ankle holster due to the potentiality of a snag occurring during the draw and on handguns where an adjustable sight might adversely affect the aesthetics of a "traditional" style gun; i.e., the Colt 1873 sa revolver), my preferred SIG 1911 is the Triple T (TTT) model. This pistol comes with adjustable combat (low, compact profile) night sights, Nitron slide and black controls and nice-looking burled maple grips. The slightly higher priced model STX also comes with these sights, plus a magwell and an ambidextrous safety (features I'd rather do without).

Yeah I've seen the TTT and STX. While both very nice guns, neither are really what I'm looking for on this go-around.

The same for the Nightmare models. I've got enough bobtails in my collection.

It may be. I passed on a tac ops a while ago because I couldn't get the type of holster I prefer to use for it (although I have been kicking my self for it ever since). The holster in question was kydex. I didn't check as to whether the slide was the only issue or whether the rail was too.

I have the Ultra Two Tone. Its a sweet shooting pistol for a compact 45! I only imagine the larger ones are even better!

I snagged a TAC OPS TR as my SIG 1911. Been great so far.
