Have to move a safe – need ideas

My safe weighs over 1000 lbs. and I (with the help of three others) moved it into my home. We didn't move it up or down any stairs. I will never do that again. I was trying to save a few dollars. It isn't worth it!! Hire it moved by professionals! A piano moving company would be a good place to start.

for moving on the floor, get some big fat dowel rods cut about 18 in. a piece and use them as rollers under the safe. works good and save the carpet!

Mission finally accomplished. Thanks for all of the suggestions. It took a large cheese & pepperoni pizza and a good supply of beer, but the job got done. I had 4 guys lined up, but it only took 3 of us to get it down the stairs. We strapped it to a large dolly & took it real slow. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be, but if I move & the safe has to come up again, I’ll let the movers earn their money.
