sold a gun to fund a knife?

Just curious. Post pics of the usurpers if you like.
Yes. I traded a 1076 to a favorite knife maker for several knives

They were great knives, but I regret it. I don't really remember exactly what I did with the knives, but I'd probably still have that big steel 10mm.

I bought a Savage youth rifle that was going to be my son's growing up rifle. He does not have the same interest in firearms as I do so I traded the rifle for a Benchmade Adamas. I was planning to sell the rifle and buy the knife but the owner took a straight up trade instead.

Sure, but many of my knives are far more expensive than a gun.

Traded a Kimber stainless 1911 for a Bob Terzuola. I got the better of that deal. Traded an FAL for a Darrel Ralph DA Ti Apogee. Much better deal.

I've also sold guns to fund knife projects.

Modern guns are just mass produced machines. Custom knives are unique.

Nope, gun $ stays with firearms and knife $ stays with knife related items. The exception was selling the Sig, that one paid for property taxes. That left a bad taste following. But if it is "fun money" then I suppose it doesn't really matter so long as you are enjoying what the results are, meaning fun.

I kind of hit a wall with my guns. I have all I need, and then some, and like what I own. So the notion of passing some on for knives I really enjoy and use everyday seems reasonable to me. But no judgment on those who think otherwise.

Thinking about some of the amusing purchases: sold a knife to buy sand paper and buffing compound. These days the $ doesn't buy much. :(

Traded a rather clapped Winchester pre 64 .243 rifle , all there but had scope "blocks" and the stock cut for a longrange Lyman peep , and a very cherry Lahti 9mm with holster ect. for this one of Mad Dog Knives "Ranasaurus" 'Trump 2020'. A 9.5" 2" wide double edged "Voodoo Frog" blade profile with rare Red laminate handles comes with two sheaths . Razor sharp took 10 months ! If I put it on Ebay I would start the bidding at $3500 and it might hit a little more. 166998163_10221956967125517_5763252168779956696_n.jpg

Yep. Don't know how much they go for now, but this Spartan Blades Harsey Difensa ran me $420.00 plus 10% WA state and local taxes. Partially funded by selling a gun... I'd rather not say what I sold, as I totally regret it now and would prefer not to hold myself up to ridicule by the forum members for being stupid and selling a classic S&W revolver that's almost impossible to find now... Funny thing is, I could've afforded to just buy the thing outright, but was feeling a bit guilty (and didn't want to face any more of the wife's questions) after a massive gun-buying spree...

Sold a Taurus 605 to fund a custom Bowie. My knife is one of a kind vs a run of the mill Taurus I don't regret that trade, ask if I would ever trade my Colts for a knife though the answer would be different. FB_IMG_1643432189462.jpg

I've gone the other way, too. Traded a custom "Damascus" bowie for a can of MK 262. $1/rd is a good price for genuine Mark 262. You do the math...I sold it to a friend for $712.
