I haven’t bought factory ammo for anything but 22 and shotgun in a very long time. I’m too cheap to find out!

A few years ago, I was seduced by a stainless Ruger Hawkeye RSI (full length stock) in 7x57. It was the most beautiful rifle I ever owned. I needed some brass for hand loads, so I bought some green box Remington.

The only thing it shot worth a darn were factory green box Remington Core-lokt 140's. The only trouble with that is they were very hard to find. No hand load I ever tried would match the velocity and accuracy of those plain old Remington Core-lokt. I would have tried hand loading those but the 140 grain 7mm bullets were discontinued.

I finally sold that rifle for much less than I paid for it. I miss it some days but not that often. My Tikka 7mm-08 is such a great hunting rifle that it was a good change of pace.

For the 22-250 in my Savage Axis (Timney trigger added). I've had excellent results with H4895, Varget, and Alliant RL15. I've tried H380 and never could find a good load. I'm using Hornady 55gn V-Max bullets.

It's not at all uncommon for shooter/reloaders to suffer withdrawal when they discover their .308 loads don't equal the accuracy of Federal .308 Match. Even when using the same bullet and cases.

Army Marksmanship shooters set a number of National Records with 223 Federal Gold Medal Match. I know, I talked to one who had. If you can reload ammunition as good as Federal Gold Medal Match, you have done something.

Yes, my mossberg MVP will shoot Hornady 55gr SP into .75” at 100 yards if I do my part. I’ve tried to duplicate the load but to no avail.

Never had one that preffered factory ammo, but i had a 9mm that just couldnt hit the target.

Got another 9 mil that doesn' like 115gr bullets.
It jams 2 or3 times per mag.
124 gr, any profile, cycles perfectly. Weird.

I bought the Mrs. a 2nd hand Ruger M77 Hawkeye (early 2000 vintage) in 270 Win last year for a hunting rifle. It shoots the 130 grain Fusion ammo so well I haven't really bothered doing much reloading for it. When the ammo is around the 20 dollar mark we just buy a few boxes.
