Have You Ever Run For or Held a Political Office?

With all the talk of politics, supporting specific candidates, supporting RKBA and the downfall of Western society -- have you ever gotten involved yourself?

From Dog Catcher to Senator to President, have you ever run for or held a political office?

I participate in my local caucuses and try to push the Repubs toward smaller government, RKBA and the Bill of Rights. Often when I bring up these issues, I'm looked at like I'm crazy, because most Repubs just assume that these are bedrock issues of the party.

As we've seen in recent Repub behavior, conservitive foundations of RKBA and limited government are NOT a given in the Republican party. They are definitely not even considered in the Democratic party. Hopefully they are and will remain foundational to the Libertarian Party. We all need to get involved one way or another. As Pericles said "Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you."

So -- Have you ever gotten involved yourself? It's the best way to affect change.

I personally will admit that I cannot stand the compromise involved to put myself out there as a candidate for anything.

Held office on our local school board. Ugliest politics there is.

Holding a public office means a great deal of sacrifice. You forfeit your right to provacy, you can no longer voice your opinion with out offending someone.

It's the best way to affect change.

I think it's one way. i found I was more apt to effect cange by influencing from out side than in. I was president for two terms, and must say I liked it better when I wasn't.

I was a member of our local community (read that commie) council executive board.

Just VP of my homeowner's association.

In Virginia, not unlike being a member of the town council.

I plan to....hopefully someday. Just always do the right thing when in doubt. At least thats what my grandma would recommend.

I hate politics & generally hate politicians.

However, I did sit in the Mayor's chair when no one was looking. Does that count to make me a head of state?

Ran for school board and got elected, served twoo terms.

Was appointed to fill a vacancy on City Council. Refused to run when term was up. Glad I moved outside city limits, they quit bothering me to run again.

Both experiences were eye opening and very educational. City council members were all idiots with delusion of grandeur. Mayor was the worst.

I commend those regular folks who have served as politicians (the non-professional politicians). Especially school boards. That's got to be the worst.

Ran for school board twice, glutton for punishment.

Today I get down on knee's and say "Thank you Lord, Thank you, Thank you, for not letting me get elected"
