I don't have any idea how I could get the barrel link right if I was blindfolded. Otherwise, it might be kinda entertaining.

Yes.
M1 Garand and 1911A1. USMC, 1956.

My Wife, blindfolded, could field strip and assemble my GI 1911A1 shortly after I bought it in 1962. :)

Never tried.

I've been required to do a rifle in the service, but not a handgun. I won't do my own handgun that way because it would probably end up with the "idiot mark".

When I was in the Secret Tactical Operations and Ordinance Group of Enforcers at the mall I did. I can't tell you exactly what I did for STOOGE and trust me you don't want to know.

Seriously other than extreme circumstances how is this skill set beneficial to my life? I am not taking a stab at Spec Op's soldiers by the way. All you guys with that type of credentials are a cut above lumps like me.

Why is playing GameCube beneficial to MY life? It isn't really, except that it's fun!

Besides that, it sure can't hurt to know the workings of your weapon to the point that you COULD do it in the dark.

No, I haven't tried it. Hard to since I don't OWN a 1911...yet. The thought of doing so never really occured to me before today, but if it's something you want to do/enjoy doing then I say "go for it."

Like longeyes said, I could start with my Glock I suppose! :D

Yes...in the barracks as a Private / E-2 (issued a 1911A1).

Then I got a girlfriend and concentrated on field stripping other things in the dark :)

Yes, and Much, Much More...

We actually had to do so blind-folded. I have stripped the 1911 (not hard), Glock 17 & 19 (easy), Browning High Power (easy). I think my view merits explaining why I perceive this to be so simplistic.

For the past 26 years, I have been a licensed TKD instructror. In testing, we have to perform our <<hyungs>> forms blindfolded. We have to start in a taped-off box, and end in that same taped-off box...blindfolded. The ability to do so or not, means the difference of pass/fail during promotion tests.

This experience (for the past 26 years) has vastly altered my functioning in similar circumstances. Eyesight, while wonderful, is not everything. I have been blessed with witnessing many people with impaired vision who performs some extraordinary tasks.

Sorry if I got too far of task here.

I had to accept the challenge and even had my wife time me...

I disassembled my Colt Commander is 13.05 seconds and reassembled it in 1 minute 22 seconds :D

Lining up the slide stop while blindfolded is not easy!

I'll have to give that a try with my trp after my next range trip...
I can definitely do it with my xd...:neener: (pats self on back)

I can do that to my 1911 with relative ease. Actually, I can do that to about 75% of my guns pretty easily, and I have no idea why. I have enver practiced it or anything, so much as it was that I got very bored one day years ago and tried it. Much to my surprise, I was a field-stripping while blind maniac.

I have never tried but I think I will in the near future, when it is a rainy day and I am bored out of my skull. I'll use my Stainless 1911 to do it though. Less chance of an "Idiot Mark" happening.
