done before.......

many times, but new members all the time & new stories. could be interesting or could be merged or threaded.

I was coming back to town late one night from Galveston Texas. It was about three in the morning and I had to stop to get gas and the gas station wasn't in the best part of town but it was well lit on a busy highway and packed full of people. I have a 4 door gmc and had the back door opened to talk to my wife in the front seat. I had changed into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt for the ride home and didn't have my gun on me but in the back seat. A man started to aproach me from the bed of my truck cutting off the only escape route. He asked if he could wash my windshield for some change and when I told him no thanks he took another step forward. I told him no thanks again and he took yet another step forward. I reached inside and had my hand the pistol and he leaned up against my bed and just stood there. It was a wierd few seconds and then he saw someone new pull up and went to harras them. I am sure I probably did it all wrong putting my self in that situation. It sucks the world has got to a point where you have to pick out your gas stations for fear of being robbed or worse.

In a world where the police can't be everywhere at once, sometimes you have to take your own protection into your own hands...

You're right though - it does suck that the world has come to this.

Pull it yoy better use it

While that isn't a sentence, I understand what you are trying to say, and it is ridiculous.

It seems 95% of all deadly force encounters that I've absorbed are ended with the display of a gun.

If you have to be in a deadly force encounter, not having to kill someone is lollipops and sunshine. Suggesting the perforation of the bad guy "just in case" as a 100% truth is horrible advice.

Very true.

As far as this being done before, I happen to enjoy these stories a lot. And THR gets new members all the time. Not everyone has read every thread. If you are an older member and see a thread that has been done before, you don't have to click on it.

Never had to pull my concealed firearm in self-defense, but I've had to put it into storage so as to be compliant with my university's Code of Conduct...

Has anyone ever heard this: "What are you gonna do shoot me?"

I heard someone say that once right before he got smashed in the mouth with a heavy barrelled revolver.

I don't recommend this because it's best to keep some distance between you and the BG.

Something deep inside me did like the response though.

If their is the presence of imminent threat or aggression the only way is to point and shoot. It is better alive talking with the Judge than talking with St. Peter.

further it is not the gun that kills, the bullet does. Be sure to have it loaded with bullets.

What caliber for reincarnating threads?

I know it's been done...but have they included a poll? It will be interesting to informaly document the ratio of "pulled, didn't fire" to "pulled and fired".

So far, it's 92% for "pulled, didn't fire".

turns around and walks away, that's a happy scenario. but in most cases he is just making a gameplan to do more harm.

Define "concealed."

Define "firearm."

Define "self-defense."

Starting to get the point?

A politically overzealous prosecutor only sees "mayor" or "congresscritter" whereas you see "support my family."

Guess who has the bigger budget?

Every bullet has an expensive lawyer attached. It is NOT an all-purpose tool.

That said, I've shot at folks to persuade them to unass territory before. Never got charged, never had any problems.
