HRA Right to Carry Conference

In an unexpected demand, it looks like the Hawaii Rifle Association and NRA-ILA is going to persue shall-issue CCW in Hawaii.

Hawaii is considered a "no-issue" state even though there is a concealed carry law on the books. In a lot of ways, the situation in the state resembles Florida before the reforms there. Hawaii has no preemption law, and the concealed carry law in Hawaii doesn't even say if it's valid statewide, resembling Florida before the shall-issue reforms of 1987, where a permit from one county may not be valid in the other.

Actually, the situation in Hawaii is even worse than that. As far as anyone knows, there's only been one permit issued by anyone there except to a police armorer there, and once the sister of the Police Chief also got a permit, but it became rather public and the permit was revoked (no word on it was revoked for cause, but I'm guessing there was no cause). Not even legislators, the governor, or any executive officer will be issued a permit by the authorities there. Previous attempts seems to copy word for word the Florida law. Let's hope they will see the point of actually having as few Criminal Safe Zones as possible, as well as have full recognition.

Even if you're not a resident of Hawaii, you can still help. Hawaii is primarily a tourist destination, and many a gun owner has canceled trips to Hawaii because of their assinine gun laws, including virtually no carry there even for residents.
