Heads Up - Sen. Blumenthal predictably calls for gun control after Cali shootings

when it seemed like we were on the verge of, potentially, legislation that would stop the madness and end the insanity

Seemed is the operative word in that statement, and the only thing that keeps it a ridiculous liberal tenet rather than a bald faced lie.

Yes, stop the madness! One thing connected all of this mayhem together - THE BMW!!! Ban German imports, for the children!
The thing they don't want to admit was California has Universal Regi...er, "Background" checks, registration of handguns, waiting periods, magazine limits, may issue, (rarely issue), CCW permits...all of the wonderful laws that make California such a Brady paradise, and still this terrible thing occurred. Rather that have a "national conversation" about how badly their dream laws failed, it's time to blood dance and claim it's all our fault, and tip their hand about the real goal, registration and confiscation.

And note, that even though California already had the full wish list of gun control proponents, the very first thing they did was demand more gun control and blame the NRA.

The most ironic part of the Santa Barbara shooter is his entire family are very staunch anti supporters. All that money they threw behind gun control didn't stop their own little mass shooter. And they have the gal to blame the NRA.

They just use stuff like this to say "see, even the laws we have now are not enough, we need more restrictions".

They won't be happy until there is a total ban.

Blaming the NRA, an advocate for gun owners, for this crime makes as much sense to me as blaming AAA which is an advocate for drivers. Once again misguided rage and sadness blonds people to thee silliness of their own proposals.

So lets see if I understand this.

The person used knife, a gun and a car to kill others and was allegedly mentally disturbed and even alerted others to what he was planning to do. And THIS is the reason to blame an organization consisting of law abiding gun owners? And because of this, we must restrict rights of others who took no part in the crime?

Perhaps it is the Senator is the one who needs a background check as well as an mental health evaluation. Wonder what skeletons are in his closet?
.

The kid was supposedly in therapy since he was seven years old. I'd like to know what king of medications he was on if any. This is a mental health issue pure and simple. Had there been no guns available, this would have still happened.

This is clearly so.

"I am going to urge that we bring back those bills, maybe reconfigure them to center on mental health, which is a point where we can agree that we need more resources to make this country healthier and to make sure that these kinds of horrific, insane, mad occurrences are stopped - and the Congress will be complicit if we fail to act."

Maybe reconfigure them to focus entirely on mental health would be my suggestion. Until that happens nothing much will change no matter how much gun control you heap on the masses. CA. is a perfect example of that. I think we need less privacy control and make medical records available to the fed. If they are going to run checks on criminal records maybe they should run some checks on your medical records too. Someone at some point is going to make the connection that your 4A rights are no more important than your 2A rights. Lets see how a limit on 4A rights is received by those that want more limits on 2A. My suspicion is that it will be totally unacceptable but since we are going down that road anyway I would like everyone to have the opportunity to feel what it's like to have the gov't keeping you safe.

If you are LEO or NSA you can find out.

Law enforcement is entitled to medical records by asserting that you are a suspect or the victim of a crime.

NSA can get them if they believe it's a matter of national security.

Otherwise you are out of luck.

He killed three people with a knife and three people (not counting himself) with a gun, yet not a single person has called for new laws banning knives? Nor has any major news outlet referred to him as the California kinfeman? Maybe we should petition the White House to stop the proliferation of these dangerous sharp objects. Next thing you know, someone will get hurt running with scissors.

Yep...Martinez's father sounded almost scripted it was so "anti" verbatim.

As far as more laws these shooters for the most part have found ways to get around the laws. The white supremacist that killed those people at the Jewish Community Center a while back had already served Federal prison time for NFA violations. After the JCC shooting the FBI raided his trailer and found hand grenades and other firearms.

"Stop the madness" is going to be the new buzzword and what makes this especially bad is Hollywood is going to be behind this and the "Kill the NRA members." actors are going to be doing PSAs.

The mistake these more law advocates make is that they relate "mentally ill" to stupid and this has clearly been proven these shooters and bombers are rather resourceful.

During this kids manifesto he is clearly stoned and his window is cracked in the Youtube video and unless his AC in his Beemer was broken it was because he was doping. Those prescribed anti-psychotic drugs come with a specific warning about usage and withdrawal for patients under twenty-five having the side effect of causing violence and suicidal acts. Mixing prescribed drugs with street drugs...boom.

This was not a lack of mental health care...this kid had the best available. It's not about laws...California...enough said. It's about attempting to control the uncontrollable. Hundred of millions of gun owners...hundred of millions of guns...hundred of millions of people on anti-depressants...two or three incidents a year. Hammers and drunk drivers...kill far more people than these mass shooters do every year.

But there is money to be made with hysteria and always follow the money.

The opposition will try to use this tragic affair to make as much political hay as possible. Already it is being called a "mass shooting" even though it does not technically qualify. The irony of the situation is it shows the need for CCW to hopefully put a stop to nuts like this guy who are bent on "retribution against mankind" to use his words. The antis will only succeed if we let them. Were all guns banned these murders would still have happened.

Whining Sissy Murderer in Santa Barbara: A Product of Brain-Dead Coddling Parents

http://badgerlakeobserver.blogspot.com/2014/05/whining-sissy-murderer-in-santa-barbara.html

The very existence of the gutless snot-nosed murdering brat in Santa Barbara will undoubtedly be explained as a consequence of Americas "Gun Culture". It is not. It is a consequence of misguided permissive parenting and a perverted entitlement culture that rewards incompetence, mediocrity, and failure.

source article said:
Asked if he believes the failed legislation that emerged after Sandy Hook would have prevented Friday's shooting, Blumenthal said at least better mental health resources would have been available.

"The legislation that failed to pass - it got support from 55 senators - would have provided a mental health initiative with more resources, greater ability for the Santa Barbara police to intervene," Blumenthal said.

There's not one law that was proposed, or being proposed that would have stopped this.

Not the killing done with the edged weapons.
Not the attempted killings done with the sportscar.
And not the ones done with his handguns.

Hundred of millions of guns...hundred of millions of gun owners...thirty million on anti-depressants. One or two of these Santa Barbara incidents a year. More gun control laws are going to cause one thing. More of these events because more gun control laws won't fix the problem.

With the DOJ statistics, even called underreported because of study methodology by some gun-control advocates, of tens of thousands of defensive gun uses a year more restrictions very well could cause more deaths including women and children by disarming civilians.

A more accepted figure of hundred of thousands of DGU events a year so if just 3% of those 500,000 DGUs a year prevent a murder that's 15,000 lives saved a year by civilian DGU. A more realistic figure would be 15% murders prevented. That's 75,000 lives. Never mind the wounding...maiming and survivor grief DGUs have prevented. Plus...the criminals captured and held for police taking multi crime users off the street.

Did he claim to be a Vietnam vet again to bolster his lack of credibility? Was he a door gunner on a Huey this time? This lying sack of "feathers" is best ignored.

I'm curious could anyone tell me the % of us the American people that own firearms?

I see us losing all our firearm rights in the next 20 or so years, then when all the good guys give up their guns the bad guys will still have theirs. Even if they dont murder, assault, rape, and theft will all go sky high because people will no longer have the ability to protect themselves. Then the anti gunner's in their ignorance will think that they have done a good thing because all the "gun violence" is gone.

Since most people are more and more leery of answering pollsters, or alleged pollsters questions of "Do you have a gun at home?", I would add about 30% or more to any national survey. The Blaze stated that last survey from 2010, stated about 30% of Americans surveyed said they own firearms...yet NICS requests for firearms dealers have been at all time highs since 2008. I'd bet it's probably more than half of the country has at least one firearm in the home. They are just tired of the intrusiveness of our Big Brother government and don't want to give MiniTruth any more fuel for the fire.

I think it's around 30% Sentry, estimated anywhere from 80-120 million gun owners owning a total of more guns than there are people. But here's the thing; we're started to get into the territory (look at New England) of "we will not comply."

Pro-gun states are passing laws banning federal gun laws. Citizens are standing up and saying "we will not get rid of property we legally bought and paid for." Worst comes to worst, we will have the anti-gun group tip their hand, which will result in 80-120 million Americans, PLUS the portions of the military/LEO circles that side with those 80-120 million Americans (or at the very least, don't want to be against them) being very upset with the government. It might, at that point, mirror something in history that happened in 1776.

There is a battle in America that you probably never heard of in school, because it doesn't support the liberal agenda. That is the Battle of Athens, in Athens, TN. Group of WW2 vets comes back to find their town is basically taken over by a corrupt, rich family who bought the elections. The vets said "we didn't go to war only to lose our rights here," so they took up their guns, marched on city hall, and took back the government for the people.

I'm not saying everything is kosher and we should bury our head in the sand; we absolutely need to fight these laws and policies and push for repeals on some of the current laws. But I'm convinced that if the antis "win", that will be their biggest downfall, because their victory will upset the people with guns.

Whats scariest to me is that these guys keep getting elected. Are they seriously getting all of these votes...hold on, let me adjust my tin foil... that's better.. When do we start wondering if we are experiencing a flawed (rigged) voting system?

Naw, people that don't have an agenda (over 50% of eligible voters) just don't vote. They say their vote doesn't mean anything. Most of the people that vote have some college and understand why they need to vote. Most of the people that don't vote have a lower level of education and don't understand why they need to vote. So when you get educated liberals all voting it tends to get weird and left leaning.
