heat shield with sights

No, not really able to adjust other than rotating the heat shield into the proper place on the barrel.

Ghost rings only work when the rear sight is in relatively close proximity to the shooter's eye. Out on the barrel any distance, it's less useful than plain open sights.

An even better question.
Has anyone purchased a heat shield that will stay where you put it under recoil?

Between the heat shield slipping around, and the ghost-ring sight being way too far forward to work right?

It's just a plain bad idea.

That's what I was thinking you guys would say. Am I also to understand that the plain heat shield is also a bit of a garbage product? I'm putting it on a mav 88. To be honest, it's more decorative than anything else, but if my decoration is going to be sliding about maybe I should go another direction.

Has anyone had any success with any version of a plain heat shield?

pure garbage. get a Mossberg brand heatshield if you want a shield. they stay in place if installed properly with care and some blue loctite.

A heat shield adds a little weight to a gun that might be too light to shoot comfortably, but it makes cleaning/oiling/maintaining the barrel under it a real pain in the butt. I've never seen any advantage of having one on a shotgun, and I don't think they even look kewel (more wannabee than kewl IMHO), but then there are some people who think I'm an old stick in the mud, too :D.

But if it floats your boat, have at it- just use a Mossberg and install it per the directions.
