....all these accurate 25-06's but yet no pics, try posting some 3 or 5 shot groups on a single piece of paper, that takes the cherry picking away and then we'll see. :D

My post above shows six 3 shot groups fired back to back, I dont claim to have the most accurate gun but it shows the potential accuracy of me and the rifle...just saying;)

Even with the small bullet selection for the 25 isnt hard to make one shine in terms of accuracy..

I vote savage tactical probably the most accurate.. or if tikka offers a 25-06.. good to go.

75, 85, 87, 90, 100, 115, 117 and 120 grain bullets available, perhaps some I've missed? HPs, soft points, flat base, boat tails, poly tipped, bonded, partitions, all-copper, etc. Can't find one that'll shoot, time to start over.

;)

For the record, I have never owned or encountered a 25-06 that would shoot Sierra 75 or 90gr bullets worth spit. Most would shoot the 87gr Sierra very well, along with all the Noslers and the 100 and 117gr Sierras.

Just to bring this back from the dead. The Tikka importers wont import the 25-06 heavy barrel. So it isnt available here in the states.

Has anybody started making one yet? I havent looked around So I dont know if there is one in production or not.

Beretta USA will not special order guns from Tikka,I know,I tried for several months a couple years ago.I wanted a Tikka T3 LH stainless varminter in 25-06.
I ended up getting Savage.Front rifle-25/06,back rifle-308.

Did you have to order them from the custom shop at Savage? Savage told me that they dont make a heavy barrel 25-06 anymore and I would have to custom order it to the tune of about $850.00.

Yeah it was mine . I recently got interested in it again. I was wanting to see if anyone is producing a Heavy Barrel 25-06 now. I doubt it b/c everybody that was is moving away from it for some crazy reason.

I Think one of the reasons is that not many people are using them for long range target shooting. Hunters will generally go with a different type of rifle, or cartridge and high BC bullets are few and far between. the .25-06 great as i personally think it is, seems to be kinda lost in "paper ballistic" limbo. It works great in the real world, but on paper its 2nd best on too many fronts.

I hear people claim it is very inefficient as far as how much powder the round uses compared to what it gives up. Then there is the 257 Bob rivalry. Dont get a thread like started it will go on and on. Never the less I am going to check out the savage shooters forum and see what an action will cost me.
