Good to hear. Lack of lubrication doesn't sound like something that would cause the malfunction you described. But if it works, it works.

Glad things are going better, but -

My personal USPc just has not winced at anything I put thru it. It is 9mm, and used to get Federal, now whatever I can get. I have not tried the Winchester Clean stuff, though my Glocks do ok with it.

My issue USPc in 40 ran thru 1000 rounds out of the box without cleaning just to prove a point. But it was really good ammo.

It's hard to say for sure, but it just doesn't sound like typical HK, needing break in and stuff.

I could be mis-remembering, but won't the .40 magazines actually work in the 9mm compact and were a cheaper way to get 'high-caps' during the AWB era?

yes,however the feed lips are a little farther apart on .40 magazines. they don't hold the cartridges as tightly as 9mm magazines.

I am still puzzled. I have never got an HK to malf... That's one of the selling points.

My suggestion would only be to really scrub the crap out of the chamber in case there's something in there that was slowing extraction. I've also had lots of luck with dry lube (Eezox in particular... it cleans the diamond off of diamond).
