Oh, you're going to love this one! The United Nations is dedicated to ridding the world of the scourge of guns. Unless, however, those guns are to protect Kofi Annan.
The United Nations, under pressure from the Bush administration, has decided to move a stash of submachine guns out of the organization's New York City headquarters.
The MP5s, made by Heckler and Koch of Germany, are to be moved to U.N. peacekeeping operations overseas, State Department sources said.
The United Nations purchased the restricted weapons for the personal protection of Secretary-General Kofi Annan in his travels around the New York metropolitan area. [Emphasis added]
Yes, my friends, you read that correctly. The UN Secretary General needs MP5 submachine guns for protection in his travels around Manhattan! For those of you who are not gun enthusiasts, this is an MP5. It's used by Spec Warriors the world over. And, apparently, Kofi Annan needs a whole slew of them to protect him when he travels in his limo around Manhattan. Of course, he and his organization would also deny that same right to every private citizen on earth, but like all liberals, he obviously feels the rules don't apply to him.
