At least I thought so.

Gander Mountain in Minnetonka is closing it's doors, and moving to Eden Prairie. Muzzleloading stuff is discounted to 40% off!

I got me a pound of Hodgdon 777, normally $22.99 for $13.79
3 boxes of .451 Round balls, normally $4.99, for $2.99 each,
and a bottle of Traditions Bore solvent, Normally $4.99 for $2.99.

Normally, I'd get .454 balls, but .451 was all they had left. I'm tempted to pick up another pound or two of 777 ... but they've also got a supply of Remington #10, CCI #10 and CCI #11 Percussion Caps (at 40% off).

How to CCI #10's and #11's compare in size to Remington #10's?
My Frontier Rifle will accept Remington #10's, and my 1858's prefer those. I already have a supply of 900 or so percussion caps, but, as in stocks, buy when the price is down, right!?

Bargains

That's the plan! I've already got a small stockpile of Remington #10 Percussion caps (between 7 and 8 hundred) ... and I'm gonna increase that tally tomorrow. Powder-wise, I'm divided between Pyrodex P and 777 ... Pyrodex would probably run around $9 or $10, and, as I said before, the 777 will be just under $14. Most of the stuff they've got remaining is the "non-inline" stuff ... which is where my interest lies!

Couldn't stay away ...

I finally got a chance to stop in Gander Mountain again, yesterday on the way home from work.

Picked up 3 tins of Remington #10 Percussion Caps for $2.39 per tin,
1 pound of Pyrodex P for $9.59, and
they had two more boxes of .451 round balls, for $2.99 per box!
All said and done, with tax, and I was out the door for $24.25! I spied they had a can of .44/.45 caliber Pyrodex pellets ... I just may pick them up next week.

I decided on Pyrodex over the 777, as it works just fine for me. The only thing I don't like about it is the rust it causes on my blued 1858. Shoot it, clean it, lube it, and haveta clean and lube it again the next day.

BUT, I finally got a front sight on my shortened stainless steel 1858... and that one doesn't have any problems with Pyrodex.

I'll try to have some pictures of my new front sight. It looks like H-E-Double Hockey Sticks, as I hand made it from a chunk of brass. Turned out to skinny and pointy for my taste, Buutt, It'll work until I can come up with something better.

Now that sucks - I loved that particular store! They had some of the best used gun deals I swear, especially their bargain long gun shelf.

What other types of goodies do they still have on hand?

What other Goodies ...

Plenty of Muzzleloading stuff (powder/caps/accessories). I've gotta pick up some items for my F-I-L's inline sometime this week.

They've still got an assortment of gun cleaning supplies. Gun cases, magazines, clothing ...

They shipped out ALL of their firearms about a month ago.

By the way, I'll post the front sight pix in a new thread, shortly.
