Had ordered some of the mystery Remington #11 caps from 2nd gen supply some time back Have used up over 500 of the first 2000 so ordered 3000 more while they have them in stock at 2.99 a hundred. These with the 10 pounds of Graff and Son powder, three pounds of Goex and 2 pounds of Pryodex along with about 500 lbs of lead on hand should make for a good years worth, and beyond of shooting. What ammo shortage. Hoarders of 22 can take a ................

Is that them rifle caps? The part number is in the middle of the regular #10s and #11s. How do they shoot for ya and what gun of yours is shooting them?

Could you possibly measure them for us???

They're old stock caps. Somebody said the year at some point, it was something like 15-20 years ago. The difference between those and the modern caps are....

1. They're really big. If you shoot them in a cap and ball revolver set up for modern #11 nipples they'll all fall off. Very frustrating.
2. You know how the new ones say "40% hotter"? These are the ones they're comparing to. May or may not be an issue depending on your application.
3. The insides aren't green, they're pretty much the same color as the metal. Not a problem but it kind of looks like there's no chemical inside. Not a problem, just something to be aware of.

I have shot about 10,000 of the old caps with the gold interior. Never had a complaint. Frankly I have more troouble with the new green caps.

No where on the package does it say "Rifle" they are labeled F.C. UMC and as mentioned in #3 the same color overall.

I use them on, the ROA, Walker by Uberti,1860 Colt by Pietta, 1858 Remington Navy by Uberti, Texas Paterson by Pietta. All of these guns have orginial factory nipples. They do fit loose on some, others I give a little push with a wooded dowel. My style of shooting is non-competitive, load, cap, raise the gun and fire six rounds, repeat. No walking around with a loaded piece, no waiting for a command to fire, no funny hand moves, load, cap raise and fire.

In the past 4 months, I've used close to six hundred now and at $2.99 a hundred and a 100% ignition rate, I'd have bought 10,000 but at my age I am hesitant about buying green bannans.

If fit was an issue I'd run them through the little set of pliers I made to size down #11 to #10. Did that with the first 100 and found it was not worth the effort.

Not saying there are the cats meow, gents, but for making the piece go bang they are a cut above tap-a-cap.

If any one lives in driving distance of Englewood Florida or East Providence RI I will give you a hundred, for a cup of coffee. PM me

.181Hgt x .183Dia.at base (.172 Inside at mouth) They are tapered somewhat.. After firing on the ROA they stay intact, on the others they become 4 leafed after firing.
With an Analog Dial caliper. So........................
Also on the ROA I have to remove some with the needle nose.

2nd gen supply? I that on online retailer?
Yes just type 2ndgen on google. They are listed as Rifle Primers. i had emailed them and ask if they were the same because the Rifle was a later addition to the description.

Will those work for percussion revolvers?
Depends on your nipples. I have TRESO and Track of the Wolf nipples and they just kind of drop around the nipple and slide off with gravity. It's not even close. I'm willing to believe there are nipples out there with a taper that will hit eventually if you push them on far/hard enough but I don't own any. Factory nipples are usually tapered since they don't know what exact cap you'll be using, so that fits with post 6.

I'll go through mine eventually but if I had known what I was buying after somebody recommended them online without explaining that they weren't the current production caps I'd have gotten something else (at the same time they had a really good deal on CCI Magnums which is a great general purpose cap).

As an edit to post 6. When I obtained the 1858 Navy, Uberti by Navy Arms, I replaced the nipples with a set of stock "Traditions" which are probly the same as those on the stock 1860 Army by Pietta.

Just to be clear they work for me, as well as any others do, on my guns with my style of shooting.

We're close but not that close. Next time you want to shoot in Okeechobee City at the OK Corral Gun Club let me know. I'm on the Treasure Coast and drive out there to shoot.
