Height difference in metal 590A1 safety vs. plastic 590 version?

I've got one each 590 and 590A1, and the A1's metal safety seemed harder to get a purchase on, and I noticed it's because it's thinner, and doesn't stick up as far. Has anyone else observed this, or is mine defective?

Pop over to Brownells webpage and order up one of the oversized steel buttons for both of them. They can be used with gloves even.

That's right. But I'll take metal over plastic any day, especially when it comes to a safety. (have metal safeties on both my model 500s)

HSMITH, I don't see an oversized steel one. They've got an oversize plastic one, and a factory steel one. Am I not looking hard enough?

DJJ those are the only ones i've seen. I've ordered both. The plastic one is currently on my 590. Its fairly beefy and easy to operate, still i'd prefer steel. The steel one i plan on putting on my 500 at some point and it seems about the same size as the stock one.

I thought the oversized steel was from Brownells, thinking more it might have been from Scattergun Technologies. If I can find one in my mess I will let you know.
