FYI. I'm out in the desert near Boise on military duty and can't watch this, but I thought some people might be interested. The links didn't transfer when I pasted this, so I guess google WestLegalEdCenter and see if you can register through their website if you want. I know that these speakers are obviously slanted AGAINST Heller, but it's good to know the opposite view sometimes:

Gun Litigation and Legislation Post-District of Columbia v Heller

The Supreme Court's June 26, 2008 decision in the closely watched District of Columbia v Heller case guaranteed the Second Amendment right to possess firearms to individuals unconnected with a state militia. This decision, however, only served to widen the longstanding controversy over the meaning of the Second Amendment and the power of federal, state, and municipal governments to regulate gun ownership within their jurisdictions. Within hours of the Supreme Court decision, suits were filed and planning to be filed in cities around the nation seeking to use Heller as a means of repealing similar gun ownership laws like those ruled unconstitutional in the District of Columbia.

West Legalworks has assembled a panel of experts intimately involved in both sides of the Columbia v Heller case to review the Supreme Court's decision and analyze its impact on the coming wave of legal and legislative battles related to the Second Amendment.

Moderator:
Erik S. Jaffe, P.C., Attorney at Law. Mr. Jaffe wrote the Brief of Amici Curiae The Cato Institute and the Institute for Justice.

Panelists:
Nina Vinik, Legal Director, Legal Community Against Violence
Alan Gura, Partner, Gura & Possessky P.L.L.C. Mr. Gura was lead counsel for Heller, and argued on his behalf before the Supreme Court.
Stephen P. Halbrook, Ph.D., Attorney at Law specializing in constitutional cases.
Paul Helmke, President, The Brady Center and Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

These guys? Not all of them, no-sir-ee. Alan Gura and Stephen Halbrook are on our side.

And the moderator (Erik S. Jaffe, P.C., Attorney at Law. Mr. Jaffe wrote the Brief of Amici Curiae The Cato Institute and the Institute for Justice) would presumably be bias toward our side.

As interesting as the discussion would be to hear and watch, $165 is a lot to pay for a CLE where you aren't exactly learning something to enhance your practice, but just watching people argue over issues that are either now black letter law (2A protects individual right) or completely theoretical (incorporation, etc.).

O that would definitely be worth watching though... don't know if it is $165 worth watching; but Halbrook and Gura against Helmke and Vinik is a pretty uneven matchup. The antis are going to get hammered.

I didn't recognize those names you mentioned above. It's good to know that Westlaw is trying to present a somewhat balance presentation.
