Hey all.Newbie here.Found you guys while searching for a gun store in DFW area.I'm a Texan, but moved up here for the better half.Still have all my TX stuff though. Can anyone suggest a good Kimber dealer with a decent stock on-hand?Will be in Dallas on Wens & Thurs and looking to buy a new gun while there. Thanks in advance.:neener: :neener: :banghead: :banghead:

I must say, when I saw the headline I instantly thought of the theme from "An Officer and a Gentleman".

;) :D

You've got to go thru OKC to get to Dallas. Both Outdooramerica Store and H&H have a decent selection of Kimbers at reasonable prices.

OH! And unless you kept your TX residence and driver's license I don't believe you can buy a handgun anywhere but OK now. YOu can buy in TX if the dealer will ship to an OK FFL for transfer but I don't think you can walk out the door of a TX gunshop with a handgun when you are no longer a legal TX resident.

Thanks for the Welcome

but actually,I'm going down 69 and 75 into Dallas. If I did the buy in OK,then i would have to do that FFL thing.Even though I live in OK,I'm still a TX resident. But thanks for that info.

Say, hold on a second - I think I was reading BATF and it allowed contiguous states to have citizens buy stuff from an FFL in one without any problem... may be wrong, though.

Contigous States

Only applies to long guns and ammo.Still have to go thru FFL for handguns.

I see - the government at work, again - messing things up. You ought to be able to get a store to ship it to an FFL in your state. About twenty dollars.

www.sportingarms.com which is in Lewisville, TX.

Call them and talk to Becky. She has a ton onf inventory that is not always online. Great selection of stuff.

Tell her Pig Huntin Steve (she will know what you mean) sent ya! If you go on Thursday, there is a good chance I might even run into you while picking up one of my own being transferred in.

welcome aboard, I am in AR less than 2 hours from muskogee.

there is a bass pro in broken arrow not far from you, just get on the muskogee turnpike and head NW.

there is an academy in Tulsa about an hour from you and in FT smith AR. Also in ft smith you have a couple of kimber dealers (Gelco and Tackle box)about 1.5 hours from you. There is a sportsmans warehouse in Rogers AR about 2 hours from you. I am sure there is a lot in Tulsa.

Do not buy anything, anywhere, yet.

In just a few weeks, (October 21, 22), the Wanenmacher gun show comes to Tulsa. That's just about an hour or so from you.

This gun show is the largest in the world. 4000 tables of guns. You won't believe it. There will be every kind of gun you can ever imagine. And some great deals.

Don't miss it.

If you are going down 69/75 you will pass within 500yds of my house. My only piece of advice is slow down starting from MacAlester, in Savanah, Kiowa, Atoka, Tushka, Caney, Caddo, Calera, and Colbert, all the way to Texas. If you are speeding through those towns you probably will get stopped especially if you have out of state plates, the police around here love to search your car, so know your rights. No real advice on Gunstores in Dallas though...sorry.

Welcome, Okie from Muskogee! :)

Oh, I forgot, no wise cracks! ;)

As mentioned, Outdoor Oklahoma, H&H Gun Range, and Sportsman's Warehouse in Oklahoma City all have 1911's, the best selection at the first two, from what I hear pickings are pretty slim in the Tulsa area, but the BIG Tulsa Gun Show is coming soon, you would have better chances there.

Now for the legalities:
You are now a resident of Oklahoma, you can't buy a pistol in Texas over the counter anymore. To purchase any firearm your identification must display your current place of residence, so you can't legally buy any firearm till you get an Oklahoma driver's license.

Welcome to the Sooner State!
As mentioned by others, DEFINITLY wait for the Wanemacher show. You'll see 300 examples of every firearm ever made since the beginning of time. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring cash. However, if you want to fondle a Kimber before the show, try Dong's Sporting Goods (I didn't name it! ) in Tulsa, just off of I-244 between Yale and Harvard. They've got the only Kimber's I've seen, though I haven't been to Bass Pro Shop yet.

Hi Bulldog. Glad that you are here. I'm currently a resident of the OKC area, but I grew up just south of your locale in Checotah. Still have family and friends there. Welcome aboard the High Road.
