Hello all,
I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mike Crenshaw at Blade last week and enjoying a few adult beverages with him and a very nice discussion about Knives, Guns, and other assorted favorite topics of mine.

Mike invited me to join your merry band..so here I am. I am quite a knife Knut and collect many custom knives but also have quite a stable of Firearms both Handgun, and Long Gun..:)

I am here to learn mostly because although my budget as allowed some nice firearm purchases in the past two years. I do not know much about ammo, proper shooting techniques, ( I do know gun safety as do my kids ) so I am excited to be here and learn..

thanks all

Ren

Well this isn't really the place for introduction. There's a thread about that in the General Gun Discussion area. But anyway, welcome to the forum--I'm sure you'll learn a lot here. I know I have and I've only been here less than a month.

Welcome!

Love Knives......Manufactured Masters of Defense and RKK knives
myself, so of course those 2 are my favorite brands. But many mor fall in the love'em category.

And Guns! Gotta love those!

If nothing else, invest in Sharpening gear and supplies. Gotta keep those Randall number 27s trued up :D

Personally, I recommend and use Gatco for most of my blades. Extra course, course, medium, and fine (with the serrated thrown in for good measure). I used to exclusive use Lansky, but after much hard use found out that it (Lansky) has a rather fatal (to the stone, not its user) flaw, so Gatco became my primary brand of angled sharpening stones.

In addition, CRKT seems to make or sell (I don't know which) a vertical rod-type ceramic sharpener set (2 rods; 1 gray/course, the other white/fine) which has been giving me some very nice results (after course-work on an old Arkansas softstone). The blurb sheet which came with my (rod) sharpener set calls the thing "Slide Sharp", and it cleans up and sharpens like the proverbial "gangbusters". Dunno about the cost, but I faintly recall somewhere around $25. And worth every penny. :)

Welcome, n00b! We have some great people on here that are also fellow Knife Knuts, and I think you'll have a gas talking with them. Now that you have one post to your name, you're not really a n00b anymore though....
